Lewis isnt perfect by any stretch, but he never embarrased himself or the sport the way that Tyson did. What kind of champion trains in Japanese brothels before a big fight? What kind of champion bites his opponent ears, when he is trying to win back his belt?

That is subjective, as anything Tyson did outside of the ring is no business of mine - at least Tyson was with women unlike your idol Lennox Lewis. And if I were in the ring with Holyfield that night I'd have kicked his knees in and when he went down I'd have put my knee full force into his face, then I'd headbutt him in the nose as hard as I could. But that's just me, I'm not as disciplined as Tyson.

Just because biting is primal and less socially accepted, it really wasn't worse than purposely headbutting another man in the head in my eyes.

Shouldn't you be plowing your boyfriend Shazam!? Your Lewis huggery is disgusting.

How fighters prepare for fights should obviously matter to the fans. Especially when it leds to one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.

Holyfield also tried to headbutt Toney as well, instead of biting his ear Toney gave him a beat down and koed him instead.

Should I nuthug Tyson instead? Isn't this the guy who used to mug old women as a kid and leave then in a bleeding heap in the elevator? Some idol youve got there.

Tysons career is the equivalent to giving someone all the ingredients to make a cup of tea and the person blows up the house instead.

Lewis dosn't deserve any **** or any credit.
For Lewis v Tyson read Johnson v Jeffries, Marciano v Louis, Holmes v Ali, SRR v Armstrong etc etc etc.
Only difference was Lewis was fading too, just not as fast as Tyson had

Is there any middle ground in this thread??? Both Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis were great champs. The main problem was that Tyson's prime was in the late 80's to very early 90's. Lennox Lewis didn't hit his prime till the mid 90's. Lennox Lewis beat a shell of Mike Tyson and should in turn receive only a small portion of credit for the win. That said both fighters have some major flaws that limit them from being compared to the top greats that many of you guys have pointed out. Honestly the whole who ducked who stuff sounds too much like a "he said - she said" type argument that makes me wonder if both of them realized that the other would be the biggest threat to them and proceeded to fight less dangerous foes.

Vitali would have KO'd him had the fight not been stopped due to the cut.

What he did in the ring far outweighs anything he did outside of it.

You seem to have little understanding of the different levels of society. Where Tyson lived, mugging people is normal.

Take a spoiled kid from a 6 figure income family living in a nice suburb. Him shoplifting a piece of candy from a store is on the same level as Tyson mugging an old lady and taking all her money. The US has many cultures, and the culture that Tyson was brought into is so vastly different from anything a person from the suburbs could imagine. What's "bad" to Tyson is killing somebody, whereas what is bad to another might be picking up a dollar you saw somebody drop and you don't tell them about it and keep it for yourself. It's subjective and unique to each culture.

The fact that Tyson was able to make the amount of money he did and the positive impact he had on the entire world during his reign as Champion speaks volumes about what kind of person he is, as 99.9% of the people born into his culture end up dead, in jail, or just another broke guy trying to make ends meet just to pay bills and stay fed.

Come spend a month in Detroit's East Side and live on your own and you will find that the world isn't sunshine and roses, which is apparently what you are used to.

Same article, they are offering Tyson a fight, but he wanted to fight Holyfield instead. How can you read this stuff and conclude something totally different?

                    2+2=5?
The Lewis camp was bluffing and Tyson knew it, no fighter in history has recieved $45 million for a fight.. The largest purse Tyson recieved in his career was for the Holyfield fight, Lewis largest career purse was for the Tyson fight, yet when Tyson offered Lewis $13.5 million it was more than twice the amount Lewis had ever recieved from a prizefight

Exactly. It's just what it is and what was meant to happen. He beat a faded Tyson in a fight that everyone longed for and he did it how he was meant to. If it went anything other than the way it did go, then we could probably understand the flak he gets but he beat down the faded version just like he was meant to and just like every younger, fresher champion eventually does to the older one.

We see it everywhere, every day in boxing. That is how the sport works. Some get **** for it, some get fame and popularity for it. Just look at Pac vs Morales/Barrera/Hatton/Oscar, Mayweather vs Oscar, Hatton vs Tszyu, Hopkins vs Taylor, Tarver vs Jones along with the above-mentioned classic fights. Lewis did what he was meant to and he did it how the fresher, better champion should have.
