Ruiz and history

Yeah, that seems to happen from time to time. A fighter gets more respect in defeat than he ever did winning.Comment

He should not be ranked higher than moorer, double m was the first ever southpaw heavyweight champion beating evander to become the number 1 heavyweight in the world! something john ruiz never was, even when ruiz was champion he was only number 3 or 4 in the world.Comment

Being the first southpaw champ doesn't mean much to me in the big scheme of things. But I do agree that Moorer beating the true champion is bigger than Ruiz being a titlist. That said I still think Ruiz had a better career at heavy but would have to go over their respective careers to come to a more final conclusion.Comment

ATG gatekeeper in my opinion..
I'd say he's around the middle of the pile in a top 100 HW list.. I don't know what he's decided, but he may continue to fight.. If not, I think he'll be remembered as a capapable but one dimensional fighter who was too methodical.. The fight with Haye typified that any good HW with fast accurate hands, would'a had his number.. Haye may not have stopped him in his prime, but would have still outboxed him fairly easily..Comment
