A tallented nearly man who was ruined by the following:
1) His lifestyle outside the ring (drinking, ballooning in weight between fights).
2) Moving up to welterweight to Fight Collazzo. Took too many punches. obviously wasn't as strong at the highter weight.
3) Moving back down in weight afterwards, toll on body.
4) Then moving up to welter again to face pound for pound number 1 Mayweather in a division he was obviously not suited too.
5) Then moving back in weight again, more toll on body. Clearly had little punch resistance against Lascano compared to what he used to.
6) Has a chaotic training camp before facing the new pound for pound king Pacqiou and is brutally knocked out.
7) Balloons to 200Lbs according to some reports.
8) Comeback is thwarted when he bunks out of training to go to a stag night gathering in Tenerife.
The ballooning, junk food, alcohol and lack of care for himself outside of training camps has surely cut short his career. Plus moving up and then down in weight divisions a few times in only a few years is never good, very few fighters do this with ease.
The Ricky Hatton, prior to the Collazzo fight would have given many light welterweights in history a good fight, he had good pace, punch variety, speed and a good chin.
He has a greater claim to be IBHOF material than some who are on the list, but I cant see him entering it easily. He is a two weight world champion who has beaten some good fighters.
a borderline, YES he's IBHOF'er, but definitely not an ATG fighter..
Says the king of the *******s.
He is not a hall of fame fighter in the grand scheme of things.
For a British fighter I guess he's good, but as far as being a world contender, he is no such thing. He fought the best the US has to offer and was utterly destroyed. He didn't take any effort at all to put to sleep.
You can make whatever excuses you want for him as to why he was destroyed in such embarrassing fashion, but the fact remains when he was put in with prime top contenders, he was annihilated.
Kosta was his best win and he was 36, at the end of his career, and coming off a string of bad performances, and another loss.
so what's the relation of being a pacfan or a ******* in this topic?
what a great way to start.. don't bring this stuff here in history..
okay. we are talking of being HOF not being one of the ATG's.. dont get confused. there are a few weaker HOF fighter already inducted than Hatton.. If they have been inducted, I don't see why Hatton can't.. Long time lineal champion, Ring FOY, strong record, etc..
Because anybody who has a picture of Manny Pacquiao in line with the great fighters in your sig must be called out for credibility sake. I've seen your ignorance plastered on NSB and it's very clear you are only a Pacquiao fan (someone who only follows Pacquiao, aka *******), and know nothing about boxing, therefore you want Hatton to be a HOF fighter because it makes your favorite fighter's resume that much greater.
If there were no Manny Pacquiao you wouldn't even be on this website.
Unless you care to explain why Hatton is a HOF fighter.
He was hyped up by promoters to get people interested and to lead them to believe he had a chance against Floyd and Manny (Same thing Arum did with Clottey recently) to sell PPV's, and many people bought into that hype.
News Flash: He never had any business in the ring with those guys and it showed in the performance.
It seems like any guy that promoters hype up to sell fights all the sudden turn into a HOF'ers when mass amounts of people start to buy into the hype.

Perfect analysis.. A few years ago, Hatton came to Thailand on a lads holiday.. He was on bar crawls for most of the time and one night, got so drunk he wandered off and became seperated from his entourage.. While everyone was looking for him, Hatton was being propped up against a wall at knife point and mugged of his Rolex by a gang of Thai bandits.. Fortunately, he was too drunk to give a ****, and just handed it over lol.. The papers said it happened in Japan, but I know different..
