who gave him a D ?
joe frazier only lost to ATGs, i dont think he deserves anything lesser than an A-
he also beat a physically stronger version of ali than norton did in my opinion.
Ricky Hatton only lost ATG fighters too.I don't see anyone rating Hatton as a true great.
Norton beat an Ali that wasn't as rusty as an old warehouse bucket.Ali was a very active fighter at the time, consistently fighting top opposition as a way of forcing frazier to stop ducking him and step in the ring with him.
Norton also beat Ali more decisively than frazier did too.

You don't think that beating the arguably greatest ever HW in Ali close to his prime elevates a resumé above a D?
Muhammad Ali
Jerry Quarry
Jimmy Ellis
Oscar Bonavena
Joe Bugner
George Chuvalo
Eddie Machen
Doug Jones
Buster Mathis
Bob Foster
That's a pretty decent resume in my view to put it mildly considering he only had 37 fights. Basically every heavyweight that mattered in the late 60's.
Norton's win resume:
Muhammad Ali (221 lbs)
Jimmy Young (razor-close SD)
Jerry Quarry (Frazier "leftover")
Duane Bobick
Henry Clark
Tex Cobb
Boone Kirkman
Jose Luis Garcia (KO'd Norton too)

the ali of FOTC would have beaten norton, even KO him if necessary.
ali looked way better in the first frazier fight than he did in the whole 70s.
his timing got better again by fighting none stopp after FOTC i agree with that, but did u saw the left hook which floored bonavena?
that was right before he faced frazier, frazier was not the only one who slowed down after their first fight.
ali was 31-0-0 25KOs, i dont say he had the power of a liston or foreman, but he lost the half of what he had thank to frazier.
Frazier resume is very good, he has very good names on his record
Foster
Ellis
Quarry to name a few
I would like to have seen him fight Floyd patterson, that would have been a excellent match up with all the bobbing and weaving going on.
Frazier is up there with the best, his resume his rated highly because of notable wins against quality heavyweights... and the greatest heavyweight of them all, MUHAMMED ALI

If Frazier's resume is D then Norton's must be E.
decent yes.but decent doesnt make the grade for atg status.i gave a b- and that was generous
