Matt Skelton started boxing professionally at 32.. He won the British and European titles and was outpointed by Ruslan Chagaev for the world title, and was all washed up by 40.. He's no ATG, but that was an incredible age to start out..

I don't think Audley Harrison turned pro until he was 30, and sadly, it shows..
Ray Mercer was probably the greatest late starter, but I need to check just how old he actually was. Will edit Asap..

I believe Mercer was 28 when he turned pro.

Hopkins and Tarver turned pro pretty late. Although they had amateur experience when they were younger, they each took a lot of time off from boxing and then started again later.
