  • Underrated and Overrated

Tell me if you think the following fighters are underrated or overrated and explain why you think so if you like:

    Jerry Quarry
    John Conteh
    Pipino Cuevas
    Salvador Sanchez
    Gerald McClellan

I'd say everyone there is rated appropriately for the most part, Jerry Quarry aside. I hate to say it but I just don't see Quarry being so highly regarded if he wasn't the White knight in a mostly Black era, probably the Blackest era of the HW division.

Salvador Sanchez is overrated. It's harsh to say,but true.

The man is rated among the greatest fighters of all time and he simply doesn't deserve such recognition. If he hadn't died and just retired at that age, then nobody would be ranking him so highly.

I think Quarry gets rated about right. I don't think color has that much to do with it, he had some fantastic wins in his career.

LaPorte, Perez, Castillo, Nelson, Lopez 2x, Gomez. Yeah, he ******. Its funny, by 23 he had a better resume than Wlad, yet you call him an all time great. You aren't very bright.

sanchez was a great fighter with big talent, he just died too young, but if he had lived 10 more years, im sure most fans today would rate him as a top 10 atg.

Than again he could have fell off like Benitez. For his short time though he accomplished a lot.

its all fans opinions, yet i disagree with you on Jerry Quarry IMO he is vastly underated` Quarry was the ipitimy of a prizefighter and was rightly voted the most exciting fighter in the world in 1967, 68 & 69 he is without doubt one of my favourite all time fighters due to his boxing skills, grit, toughness, quality of opposition, victories and lifestyle, i have a huge collection of Jerry Quarry fights and even in today`s era i still rate Quarry as Top 5 value-for-money fighters to watch.. To claim it was his skin colour which made him a favourite is incorrect, its his performances against Frazier, Lyle, Mathis, Foster, Spencer, Shavers and many more which make him a fan favourite.

Where in my post did I say he ******? I simply said he shouldn't be ranked as highly as he is.

His career and legacy is always going to be a question mark.

Castillo and Perez were bums, don't ever include them as some credible win ever again.

Your hatred for Wladimir is irrelevant here, sonny.
