Recommendation thread. Roberto Duran vs Iran Barkley.

    Boxing fans.
I have just watched Roberto Duran vs Iran Barkley for the first time, and wanted to share and recommend this fight to anyone who hasn't seen it yet. Most of you guys have probably already seen this fantastic fight, but for anyone who hasn't, youtube it or try and get hold of it on DVD. You wont be disappointed.
    Cheers 123

You were smart to watch this fight. Great performance by Duran. This is one of my favorite all-time fights. Duran used experience, toughness and skill to topple Barkley, who certainly had his moments as well.

The combo Duran dropped Barkley with late was a thing of beauty. There were some really vicious exchanges throughout.

Thanks for the reply. Your right, Duran shows great skill and toughness to stick with Iran and wear him down. And at 37!

I would rate this Duran's finest winning moment after the first Leonard fight.

Duran sure defied the odds that night. It was a close fight but when Duran knocked Barkley down with that combination I jumped up in shock.

Duran apologists confuse three rounds with an entire fight it seems. This fight was a classic example of a gift decision.Duran apologists will even tell you that their hero dominated Barkley. The official result of the fight didn't matter however, as Barkley fought the second best fight of his life and beat Duran up and did so in tribute for his late friend Davey Moore

Duran did pick up the official gift decision. Can be no argument there. The true unbiased fans know the truth however.

I felt Barkley had the edge after 9 rounds but I did give Duran a few rounds early and along with his late rally it won the decision for him. Not a gift decision by any means. Even if you score the fight even, Duran wins because of the knockdown.

Geez, I have never heard one single person ever say that this was anything but super close and could have gone either way.

I also remember discussing it with you in depth once and you actually had it a draw with the rounds you said could have gone either way as they were close, though I think you were too thick to realise it.

I remember you saying that although there were a few close rounds that could have gone either way, you only gave Duran three, one of those with a KD. He only needs to get two more rounds, and being that you hate him so much you just dismissed them, that were very close and you have it a draw.

Not so much of a robbery when you actually think about it.
