I think it was a pretty good assessment overall.
This will certainly cause some controversy on here though
"The next problem is to pick our Top 10. If we were to rate them solely on what they achieved at welterweight, we’d need to include men from the turn of the 19th century such as Tommy Ryan and Joe Walcott. But that would stack things too strongly in Floyd’s favor. Unless you’re of the Nat Fleischer school, which views the early champions as men of a higher order, you’d have to concede that Mayweather would have too much in his arsenal of skills for anyone from that era. Take a look at fights from the 1900s on YouTube.com to see what we mean."
But yeah I think the picks were pretty reasonable. -

Written accounts are all well and good, but when it comes down to it they fall behind actual video evidence, when a coach wants to analyse an opponent for his fighter he doesn't read a newspaper account of him does he?Comment

Well no offence intended, but what other means besides visual footage can we use to see how those guys would stack up with Floyd?

Sorry I think I misunderstood you
"And watching a few videos on youtube is not nearly enough to say that men like Tommy Ryan, Barbados Joe Walcott would have stood no chance."
By that I thought you meant that watching the footage of these men wasn't enough, but what you meant was that watching footage of other men from their era wasn't enough to say they had no chance, my mistakeComment

In a hypothetical match up, why would they put Armstrong in with the WW version of Floyd, putting him at a serious weight disadvantage, instead of the 130/135 pound version?
And where is the Tommy Hearns match up?Comment
