No reason to have multiple Whitaker threads underway on the front page. One Whitaker thread is about what people can stand. He was not that entertaining.

Whitaker was so good at a certain point in the fight one thought they were fighting two of him, hence the two threads

I believe Duran will have immense trouble with Whitaker, if he can beat him at all. That fight is up for grabs. The judges often felt that way on Whitaker, too, and may again. Duran is more versatile than Chavez, but still out of the straight ahead mold. Whitaker can conduct a better defense hurt than most fighters can muster fresh.

Chavez got tired in the latter half of their fight. Duran could go 15 rounds.

              - -And that was a worn out jcc 87 fights in an unbeaten career at a new weight he never proved to be effective at.

Had Pea clowned less and fought more he'd have prob won those early losses and that fight, so the lack of pop was replaced with his clown show to thrill the juveniles but turn off the old guard.

Did his career and life no favors getting into the nose candy either, but it happens, so rest in peace now bro.

We all pass that way eventually.

I often wonder. Duran is often made out to be unbeatable. But that's true of no man, even the best. I think.

In reality, we never saw Duran lose to someone like Whiataker. Theoretically he struggled with slicksters. but we never saw him lose to one in proper form. Actually, two of his best performances were against DeJesus and Leonard.

Conversely, Whitaker had his hands full w/ de La Hoya and Trinidad. You can say those fights when Whitaker was past his best, but you can't say those men, despite their size advantage, were as good as Duran.

The physicality, persistence and guile of Duran are probaby too much for Whitaker over 15. Probably being the operative word.

All I can say is if we could see that fight it would be a travesty of justice if it was not a 15 rounder. That would be one fight for the ages!
