    Sonny Liston was the scariest.
Floyd Patterson was the best boxer.
George Foreman was the hardest puncher.
But the Roughest & the Toughest was Joe Frazier.
I've always heard him say Foreman was physically the strongest. He actually said Foreman's power was overrated after their fight.

No it is obviously an accomplishment I meant it in the sense, maybe in bad English, that neither had a huge range of skills IMO. So you don't think that it was possible that Shavers could have kniocked out Patterson then?

Johansson > Shavers. One man beat his best opponents. The other man didn't. And sadly, Shavers couldn't even beat an old, over the hill, fat Ali, which even Leon Spinks could handle. Shavers was in his prime at the time.

Of course it is possible,if Ingemar Johansson had the power to knock him out then Earnie Shavers most certainly had the power to have done the same. But again, logic like this just doesn't work and cannot be used to apply to such an argument. We can't prove any of these arguments, which is why these silly hypothetical matchups are so silly. When judging a fighters career and comparing him with other fighters career's,it's always safe to simply use facts to support the argument.

******scooper, your responses to my posts get weirder and weirder. Now you're altering them. What the hell is the matter with you? Does it sicken you when we agree about something? Get over it.

Your ever-changing name reminded me of the words ****** scooper. It's also easier for me to type. You're in no position to protest considering you call me dunce all the time, despite the fact that I'm clearly more intelligent and educated than you.

That aside, you're digging up posts from other forums now? Forums you don't even address me on? Random posts no less. Sad. What did that contribute to the topic at hand? Nothing.

Shavers damn near took Lyle out, there is footage of this one on youtube, it's awesome. Shavers was one of the hardest hitters ever, I have no doubt about that. He got caught bad by Quarry and Quarry had some skill and was young then. It does kinda suck that shavers never won the title but he had his place in that era and I think that is pretty cool, he was always the threatening heavy puncher. You gotta agree that if Shavers Landed one more good punch on Holmes in that 2nd fight, Holmes would have been out. Shavers just needed to calm down and aim for one good one but he gassed out flailing away. It's all good though, Ernie was a bad ass, and he fought in an awesome era of Heavyweights, always a threat.

                      Shavers not Foreman
                      Foley not Patterson

Oh, and he showed all the signs of a frightened Rabbit against Liston didn't he?
