  • Ken Norton vs Jose Luis Garcia 2 - Very good heavyweight fight, there was a revenge factor for Norton here as he got knocked out by Garcia when he was an undefeated prospect. These guys just stood head to head and ****** away at each other. The ending was quite controversial though. If only heavyweights fought like this nowadays.

    • Eagle Kyowa (Den Junlaphan and his other aliases) vs Rodel Mayol.

A WBC minimumweight title fight from 2006, a pretty entertaining affair. The crowd and announcers were pretty lively, made for a great atmosphere.

That was a good fight, Junlaphan was probably starting to lose a step around that time and I think that's still Mayol's best performance.

        • Ricky Burns vs 'Rocky' Martinez

Great title fight. I won't spoil it yet for those that haven't seen it as it only just happened. Great back and forth action with lots of heart and determination.

          • Benny suggested this thread deserved a "sticky" and I agree. I am fond of keeping threads out front that the casual fan who comes to learn can still post in and not have to worry about being cut down. Im gonna wait a bit, but Im also very fond of the classic boxing pics thread. Anyone for or against "stickying" that thread sometime in the near future?

Thanks JAB, cong**** on being made the mod of the History Section. I'm away from my boxing videos at the moment so I haven't updated the thread in a little, I'll start updating next week again, in case the inactivity of the thread bothers you.

This is one of those threads that just need to be Stickied. What better place than the history section to have a thread on all the best fights from all eras. Brilliant stuff Silencers and Jab!

                Yeeehar!

                • BTW Silencers, do you remember the fight with a Japanese guy in that incredible brawl and he comes back in a feverish crazy attack and literally does a 360 jumping uppercut in the middle of one of his furious comebacks? Do you remember that fight? He comes back from a great beating and looks out of it and then goes ballistic, tries one of those uppercuts and then later catches the guy with it to KO him.

Been looking for it for ages. It was amazing. A real life Street Fighter punch. The 'Harrrrrryuuken!' or whatever it was.

I actually haven't seen that one. Sounds like something I have to watch though.

Thanks for helping this thread get stickied.

                    • Good job stickying this thread.

Just watched Bob Foster vs Chris Finnegan for the first time.

Epic Fight. Foster's right hand was dynamite and Finnegan showed great heart. Rounds 7 and 8 were dead-set brutal.
