Kendall Holt vs Thomas Davis - 1 round fight. Holt started aggressively and dominated the round for 2:30 hurting stunning Davis a few times but when things settled down a bit Holt ran right into a right hand that hurt him badly he got back up but was on shaky legs and went back down after a combination from Davis. Great turnaround in a 1 round fight.

Bernard Razzano vs Laurent Boudouani - Not really a war, just a big come from behind victory for the underdog in Razzano, Razzano got battered for the better part of 4 rounds, getting knocked down twice in the process and had one of his eyes swelling shut. But Boudouani started getting tired and Razzano started landing his own shots starting from the 5th, Boudouani didn't look like he was in too much trouble in the 6th but then seemed to hit a wall in the middle of the 7th and never recovered, Razzano pressed the action, sensing the opportunity to upset the European Champion which got the crowd roaring which didn't help Boudouani because the referee failed to hear the bell and Boudouani got hit by 5 or 6 clean power shots with his hands down before the referee noticed the bell. Boudouani had not recovered by the 8th and was basically thrown to the floor and got up on very unsteady legs which prompted his corner to step onto the apron to get the referee to stop the fight.

Juan Manuel Lopez vs Bernabe Concepcion - Just a fun fight, Lopez in control for most of round 1 scoring a knockdown along the way before getting hit and put on the canvas himself. Put Concepcion down twice more in the second to stop the fight.

But, this other fight is easily up there for the greatest L.Flyweight fight of all time with Gonzalez/Carbajal 1. Pick and choose. Both are brilliant and just as good as each other. Christ I wish I could remember who it was.....
Once again though: Get this thread stickied BS!

Would have been a great win too in another division. Tragic. He was such an amazing fighter. Skill, will, power, aggression....and a ****eload of great fights.

Jorge Paez vs Tracy Spann - This was a very good, all action fight between the long, rangy, big punching Spann and the smaller, aggressive Paez in an elimination bout for the right to fight Pernell Whitaker. Paez' defense wasn't good in this fight and Spann really didn't have good defense, so it made for a very good fight.
They basically went at it from the opening bell, Spann trying to use his height and reach while Paez came forward, Paez got knocked down and was pretty badly hurt in the 3rd round from a right hook from Spann, but Paez was smart and spit out his mouthpiece, the referee didn't notice it right away but it did buy Paez a few seconds when he was still not fully recovered. The knockdown seemed to wake Paez up though and he started putting more pressure on Spann, eventually hurting Spann in the sixth when the referee deducted a point from Paez for using his left arm to measure Spann. Paez got cut in the seventh. Paez managed to get inside and land repeatedly on Spann in the last 3 rounds, but Spann was always in there landing his own good shots.
I thought the referee, Terry Smith, was on Paez' case too much in this fight, warned him for a lot of things and took a point away when Paez had Spann in obvious trouble while he let Spann get away with lots of low blows.

Rafael Ruelas vs Jorge Paez - The fight was billed as a war between the 21 year old, up and coming Ruelas facing the biggest test of his career so far in Paez, who was smaller and might have seen better days. The fight lived up to the billing with both guys coming out to center ring and trading punches from the opening bell, you would expect the smaller, more experienced, shorter armed Paez to have the advantage on the inside but that wasn't the case as Ruelas used a very high workrate and crisp combinations, showing very good inside fighting skills. Ruelas managed to knock Paez down twice in the first round with beauatiful uppercuts that had Paez looking confused. It was basically the same thing, Paez coming forward behind a cross armed defense with Ruelas keeping a very high workrate and standing his ground, trying to push Paez back, until the fourth round where Paez managed to hurt Ruelas pretty badly, Ruelas managed to weather the storm and get away from harm's way, Paez was going to follow up but right at that moment, the referee decided to halt the action for Paez to get his mouthpiece replaced which bought Ruelas some valuable time to recover.
It became a longer range fight in round 6 where Ruelas managed to work well behind his jab and he seemed to take the fight away from Paez from round 7 because Paez didn't seem as willing to engage anymore. Paez, bruised, battered and cut was stopped in his corner after the 10th round.
I really like these old Forum Boxing fights.
