I think your title is about right, For him a great fight would be GGG. Could Mickey beat GGG or Canelo? What is your opinion on that?

Based on his draw with Sharkey id say he beats both. Certainly a better resume than both of them respectively.

don't have faith in Saul in these all time h2h

Saul has no dominant performance in his big fights against good or better opponents

prime all times especially high ranking ones are likely to hand Saul his ass

8-4'ing past prime small Miguel, scoring a come from behind ko on past prime Kovalev, and 8-4'ing a ggg at the tail end

those don't make him that guy for h2h

Mickey was KO'd 6 times, mostly easy to explain away

The first two happened when he was a youngster in his 8th and 18th fights. In those 6 mos and 20 days between, Mickey had 10 fights! 18 fights is still relatively raw by olden standards and even today's, excepting a few outliers.

Being KO'd in his last and 164th as well his 156th fight screams, smacks of SHOT!!! and does not need any further explaining away.

Being KO'd by heavyweight Max Schmeling who punched hard enough to KO Louis requires no explanation either.

That leaves only 1 kayo to be examined, to a fellow named Joe Dundee in his 93rd fight. Dundee was undisputed WW champion 1927-1929, which he became only 5 1/2 months after beating Mickey. Dundee was a world class champion with a lot of names. We can assume both men were close to prime for those days since it was Joe's 86th fight. They had almost the same amount of experience and were seasoned. Joe was not a huge puncher from his record. He did not turn so many of his newspaper-decided fights into KOs, as Mickey did.

Dundee TKOd Mickey on cuts only a month after Mick lost his WW title. That is the shape he found him in. He exploited an eye injury Mickey had received in training. Whether this injury was reported in the lead up I do not know. But that explains this KO I believe,
