I made a youtube channel to upload progress on the vintage style

    Working the leverage #oldschoolboxing #boxing #harrygreb #samlangford #rockymarciano

Have a look at the shorts and videos (they upload based on aspect ratio).

I will be posting content here as training ramps up.

A little update, I am no longer tattooing and will be working a physical job from here forwards, hopefully allowing the pursuit of oldschool boxing and replicating the training, thinking and style of these great old fighters.

in the few clips I have uploaded:

In sparring - I pretend to be slow and hide my agility and speed, opening my sparring partner up to being vulnerable and hit flush. I also use this to bait shots and cause them to miss. It has taken a lot of hard training to develop the muscle control.

On the bag, I focus on my kinetic chain and leverage - and in training I seek to develop my entire body in every area for maximal control.

I look for weak points in my body in order to secure a solid smooth kinetic chain. true speed and power has no explosion - it ripples through the body like a domino effect. Lately I have focused heavily on my rotator cuffs, and my lower core / hip area to ensure the body is a "unit"

My training has centered on mental conditioning to harden my will and build ruthless discipline. Recently I triggered my adrenal response and released four androgens into my bloodstream. This reaction occurs when survival instincts kick in. I found myself stranded in the wilderness forced to march fifty three kilometers with forty pounds of equipment under thirty six degree heat. With almost no water or food I tapped into pure adrenaline. The experience was insane and ineffable – I emerged changed forever. It deepened my respect for those legionaries who marched and fought in hand to hand battles for hours on end with their adrenal systems pumping nonstop. They must have been monsters.

here is how I have been training and where I got the ideas from:

Much of my training comes from Campaigns of Caesar and Caesars Legions. Those books lay out the real routines of ancient soldiers. Many dismiss those accounts as myth. In practice they make sense. One day I would like to replicate famous marches - such as the march of the rhine by Tiberius. Some of these marches are 500 + km under full load - and in a very short time span. I believe if anyone did these they would get some insane results. With this type of work you get a lot of physical changes like tendon strength, heart strength - all sorts of different things.

5 days a week march 25-45 km with loadouts from 40-65 lbs. what this does is fire almost every stabilizer in your body as you march at a brisk pace. for every moment you are briefly balancing on one foot - all that weight must be stabilized. this builds incredible stamina and all around strength and armor. it also increases your testosterone to a very high degree..it's even strengthened my neck.

at the gym I have this workout I call the "human generator"

I bring a container of quickly digestible carbs (oatmeal, bananas and honey)

walk to the gym (16 km there and back)

    Warmup on heavybag

    1 hour of assault bike

    1 hour of rowing

    refuel with carbs

1 hour of Sforce (incredible leg machine built for sprinters

    1 hour of rope climber

everything is done at a slightly above moderate pace - with the goal of generating more power with the same effort. so that by years end my old high is my new average.

I do the human generator workout twice a week.

Harry Greb was the one who said if he stopped moving he tired more - the goal is to keep moving in perpetual motion for the entirety of the fight. just like arm strong. to do this you have to throw punches at any target you get, arms, body, head, gloves whatever. the "human generator" workout is there to condition me for this process.

As a petite fellow does the equipment ever have to be modified for your special needs? Mine has. I have a giant ass so I use a tractor seat on my rowing machine.

for long rows I use a cushion. the machine hurts the ass over an hour. 1 hour is usually fine, but 2 hours can be very painful.
