    Who Fell Farthest From Grace?

Who took the greatest fall in legacy greatness from where they once stood? I ask not how good they were but how far fan perception of a particular boxer fell from its highest perch of glory.

Some losses are devastating to legacy, while others not at all. Robinson's legacy does not seem to have suffered a whit from losing to Maxim, though indeed it would surely have been even higher had he won. Since he is already the GOAT, he would just have been a bit better of a GOAT.

    So who fell farthest?

I voted Jones. He was still considered one of the P4P greats after his win over Ruiz at HW. Within two fights he plummeted. After his first win over Tarver he suffered back to back knock out losses to Tarver and Johnson and another loss to Tarver. He went from hero to zero after those three consecutive losses. All of his losses from Danny Green and onward were embarrassing to his legacy. That first KO loss to Tarver was the beginning of the end.

Lot of good pinpoints there. But hey, I do not see you registering a vote. I see no votes so far. Now I see it.

Yes, Roy was ridin' awful high at the time. That was a great fall. He was perhaps the strongest GOAT candidate yet to challenge the established hierarchy of boxing saints for top honors. And then....

Mike Tyson. His latest loss to Jake Paul, even though Jake is the Face of Boxing is another reminder that when Tyson fights elite guys, he loses. The biggest fall from grace in life on the whole is Will Smith, he was The Fresh Prince (music and show), then he had a run of good fun movies like Bad Boys, Independence Day, Men in Black, Enemy of the State, and some good more serious stuff later like Persuit of Happiness, now he is in a never ending midlife crisis trying to rediscover something that he never was and be something that he never was in cringefests like "This is the Bounce back, and trying to convince us that at nearly 60 years old, that he "likes pretty girls." - - Exhibitions for million$$$ ain't part of Mike's record. Nobody in boxing ever got beat up as bad as l'l floydy when Logan Paul pounded him from pillar to post after he told his fans to bet on his KO of Paul...priceless

Nash thought TBE Mayweather edged the Great Logan Paul 77-75 in a battle for the ages. Mike Tyson reprimed for the Jake Paul fight, but the Next-Gen man found a way to nullify Tyson's offence, but Tyson has never looked better, threw a tremendous right hand in the first round that would have won most fights, but Jake Paul avoided it, and fought a tremendous fight behind the jab, but Tyson showed enough that he can come again. I voted for both Tyson and Jones. 90% of their careers they fought bums in their prime. And once they faced a boxer that had little to equal skills they both went down hill. If I had to choose only one. It would be Roy.

For me it also boils down to Jones or Tyson. Hard to decide. It's why I haven't even voted yet. Both careers, conducted differently, would have left either strong GOAT contenders. But alas, it was not to be, and perhaps for the better. We never would have known that our ratings of both were far overblown and they were both not actually GOAT contenders at all by the standards we normally use.

We would not have known. Both would have been thrust permanently higher onto the AT list than they deserved, making all of us pure dummies.

P.S. Whatever happened to Billeau? His absence is a big loss.
