Ruddock v Mercer. Who wins in 1991?

Would the Ruddock who lost to Tyson have beaten the Mercer who beat Morrison? I would love to have seen this fight. Very hard to pick a winner

    This a good fight.

I tend to go with Mercer, but Razor pre-Tyson breaking his jaw would've been live with anybody in the early '90s. s

      - - Razor got his prime beat out of him by Tyson. Mercer just did a self melt relying on his chin until that's all he had left.

Ruddock is one of the most overrated HW's while Mercer one of the most underrated. Ruddock beat no one but shadows from the 80s, and his best win was Michael Dokes who with all due respect, was a journeyman himself who should have never gotten that title shot if it wasn't for Bowe being managed by Rochman or whatever his name was.

He was violently beaten by the only 3 top HW's he faced, and really didn't have much else other than a hard left uppercut. No jab, no set ups for combinations, no right hand, no movement and no defense other than putting hands up to block. Very wild and sloppy too.

Mercer on the other hand despite being an extremely tough and gifted HW, was quite skilled as a former gold medalist in the olympics. His jab and fundamentals were solid, he was a steel wall who could hardly be decked and had power in both hands and could box or brawl for 12 . Ruddock would be mercilessly put down and out as usual.

I like Ruddock by a unanimous but fun decision. Ruddock had a solid chin and could fight. Mercer had a chin but was prone to being outboxed. I'll take the more experienced Ruddock but wouldn't cou t Mercer out.

I give the edge to Ruddock, but i also rated Mercer. Would have been a good one.
