Someone can have thicker wrists bones but a smaller circumference depending on how the bones are made up and the distance between the 2.

Even regardless of circumference you can see Foremanās hands are not just larger in terms of taking up space but also heavier boned than Alis. Likewise Marciano, who had a small circumference but very thick bones that made up the composition. Especially in the photo of him holding Pattersons hand.
You think I haven't got some meaty mitts on me?

It all goes back to what weight really measures versus what people think it measures. Density is the amount of "stuff" that takes up a space. Somen stuff is harder, hence more dense, more strong. So I may have light bones, lift a lot of weights and weigh 280, versus someone with heavy bones, who is much more dense... Bone is denser than muscle, Muscle is denser than fat. If you get a man that weights 180 and has really dense bones, he has natural size and may even be able to fight guys much bigger.

The bones of the hand are bones with a thickness, a density, that usually is congruent with the rest of the frame. The exception bein g those who build up bone mass through compound fractures which cause the bones to heal up bigger and stronger., more dense. A lot of hand conditioning is done this way and it is rumored secret training programs use this method to make a person's whole skeleton incredibly dense.
