Mexico is a great boxing country, second only to the United States. It's about a one fourth the size of the US and has had about one fourth the champions of the US. The difference is no one goes to Mexico to be great in boxing. People come to the Inited States from all over the world to make the big time.

I've got nothing but respect for Mexican boxers and the great trainers there. But I could name dozens of fighter from other countries who came to the US to train rather than Mexico. Yes, the money and exposure are here, but that doesn't mean they have to train here. They chose to. Maybe it's a combination of the fine trainers, money and exposure. I don't know. I just know the numbers pale in comparison. Again, that no slight on Mexico.
