Round 1 Camacho
More active, scored to the body and scored a few straight lefts to the
head, Davis looks confused with the left handed stance, he was inactive for
the most part, Camacho also scored with the jab.
Round 2 Camacho
Davis is letting Camacho get off first, Camacho is going to Davis's body well. Davis
started to workout the Southpaw stance later in the round by applying more
pressure but he still did too much waiting and got hit with the better punches
Round 3 Camacho
Consistent with jab, went to the body and scored two good straight left
hands, Davis is waiting too much and not applying pressure like you
must against a lefty, he is allowing Camacho to get off first
Round 4 Davis (sympathy round which i originally scored for
Camacho)
Not much happened but i gave it to Camacho on a couple of clean jabs
and left hand towards the end. Davis could of taken this because not
much happened.
Round 5 Camacho (little closer)
More pressure by Davis but he was not that successful landing! Camacho
went to the body hard and scored counter jabs and one straight left hand
Round 6 Camacho ( little closer)
Far too much waiting by Davis, Camacho had a quiet round but still scored
to the body, Davis tried to steal it late.
Round 7 Davis (sympathy)
Lots of pressure and pushing Camacho back
Round 8 Camacho
He controlled the round and scored to the body, he also scored the jab and straight lefts
Round 9 Camacho
He hammered Davis to the body, Davis started okay but let Camacho take
over
Round 10 Camacho
I thought he landed better to the body and Davis let him get off as per usual
I would not have given Davis any rounds but i was feeling generous as it was so one sided, Davis clearly
struggled with the Southpaw stance and its lesson that he should of learned imo. You have to apply pressure
when you Box Southpaw's, he let Camacho get off way too much and tried to Box a Southpaw, which is
the worst thing you can do because they are use to fighting your style. Camacho showed
good ring generalship and scored hard to the body all night long.
Watched the August, 1966 Heavyweight title fight between Ali and Brian London. A complete mismatch, as London landed less than 5 punches the entire fight and Ali put him to sleep in the 3rd. ABC broadcasted the fight, will Bill Fleming calling Muhammad "Cassius Clay" the entire fight. Howard Cosell was the ringside reporter, and he too called him Clay throughout the fight, which shocked me for whenever he interviewed Ali back then, he always called him Muhammad. Cosell interviewed Ali after fight and once again addressed him as Muhammad. I was puzzled as to why Cosell called him Clay during the broadcast when he already acknowledged his legal name as Muhammad Ali.
I just watched Terry Norris vs Meldrick Taylor....Norris was awesome in that fight. Before that I watched Taylor vs Chavez.... I still can't believe that stoppage. Taylor deserved the chance to keep fighting for another few seconds!
I just watched Terry Norris vs Meldrick Taylor....Norris was awesome in that fight. Before that I watched Taylor vs Chavez.... I still can't believe that stoppage. Taylor deserved the chance to keep fighting for another few seconds!
A mans life was at stake the stoppage was correct.
I watched Nishioko, Hasegawa/Montiel, Marcus Johnson vs Eduard Shobox telecast on DVD so i did not get chance to do a detailed scorecard.
Moreno vs Cermeno
Round 1 Moreno
Clear round for Moreno as he was the only one landing
punches this round, he landed a serious of left hands
Round 2 Moreno (close)
Moreno landed a 1 2 early then scored a counter left, Cermeno
came back with a couple of rights but Moreno then started landing
the left hook, he landed it a couple of times, Cermeno came back by
going to the body and did land a sneaky right hand on Moreno
toward the end.
Round 3 Moreno
Both landed to the body this round but i just felt Moreno
landed a couple of clipping counter left hands he also landed
a left hook at the end to punctuate the round, i also prefer
Moreno's pressure this round
Round 4 Moreno
Moreno is more active and landing the cleaner punches so far
in the fight, in this round Moreno landed his counter left and
his hook which does not seem to miss Cermeno when he
throws it, clearer round for Moreno imo.
Round 5 Cermeno
Cermeno landed well with the right hook to the body and
sneaked a few right hands in that caught Moreno clean, although
Moreno did come back a little toward the end
Round 6 Cermeno
Although not a lot happened and it was interrupted by the ref
warning Cermeno about pulling Moreno's head down and
hitting him low, Moreno only seem to land a counter right hand,
Cermeno did not do much himself but i felt he landed to the body
a bit early on and finished better, albeit there was not much in this
round to choose from imo so............
Round 7 Cermeno
Good round for Cermeno as he found a home for his right
hook to the body and scored with the right to the head at least once,
he became more aggressive this round did Cermeno
Round 8 Cermeno
Another good round for Cermeno, he really has found something
with that right hook to the body, he scored it this round again
and scored uptop as he became more aggressive, he seems to
be more active than Moreno now, Moreno is fighting his fight
Round 9 Moreno
More pressure from Moreno, Cermeno scored to the body
but Moreno landed a nice straight left hand to punctuate a round in
which he put the pressure on for most of the round, he also landed
a nice counter uppercut.
Round 10 Moreno
Good pressure from Moreno as he landed a serious of counter
straight lefts, Cermeno tried to steal the round where he landed
a good shot at the end but Moreno did the better work for me
Round 11 Even
I thought Cermeno was wining the round with his body
work then he hit Moreno with a low blow and had a point
taken, after that he came back and landed his right hook to
the head and scored down stairs.
Round 12 Cermeno
Thought Cermeno outpunched and out landed Moreno
in this round as he applied the pressure, Cermeano landed
with body work and brought his right hook/hand upstairs
and caught Moreno a couple of times, Moreno came back
toward the end but Cermeno did more over the coarse of
the round imo.
Not an easy fight to score. Moreno started sharply and it looked as though he
would win a clear decision up until round 4, Cermeno seemed to take a few rounds
to get into his rhythm but he soon had Moreno fighting his fight, which is something
he seems to do to everyone he fights, Moreno became more inactive, although ironically it
was Cermeno who was the more inactive early in the fight.
Cermeno seemed
to land his right hook to the body consistently throughout the fight and outworked
Moreno in the middle part of the fight imo, Moreno came alive in rounds 9/10 by
applying the pressure and he took both rounds imo, round 11 Cermeno had a point
taken for another low blow but i had him winning the round so.......
Moreno should of kept the pressure on Cermeno a lot more imo, Moreno seemed
to do better when he pressed/counter punched Cermeno off the front font but when
he stood out in middle of the ring Cermeno seemed to sneak punches on him, would
like to see a rematch.
Moreno had a lot success with the right hook but did not seem to land as much in latter part of the fight imo. I can see why people thought Cermeno won this fight as he did make Moreno fight his fight and landed sneaky counters on him and went to the body a lot in the fight, that said i can see Moreno winning to, although i do fear Cermeno's bodywork might of been overlooked.

Quiet round but Huck's jabs and hard right hands
took it for me.
Round 2 Huck
Another one of those rounds which starts out quiet
but later in the round Huck will explode with a combo
and land his hard right hands, Huck closed better to.
Round 3 Huck 10/8
Minto actually had a better round as he consistently went to
the body of Huck, however he caught some big right hands and
an uppercut, he was eventually dropped.
Round 4 Huck
Minto was his usual busy self but Huck is nailing him with big uppercuts
and right hands that are swaying the round his way as he is the
one dealing out the hurt whilst Minto is only consistent to the body
from time to time
Round 5 Huck 10/8
Huck scored another knockdown dropping Minto with a big right hand
toward the end, he also landed nice hard uppercut on Minto
Round 6 Minto (kind)
I thought Minto was consistent the whole round and that Huck did not really
do a lot aside from two right hands, he came alive at the end to steal it but
i like Minto's consistency
Round 7 Huck
Closer round where not much happened, Minto forced the pace but Huck came
alive and nailed him with right hands and an uppercut but aside from that neither
man did a lot this round
Round 8 Huck (closer)
Close round were Huck landed the odd right hand but Minto came foward
and hit the body most of the round
Round 9 Huck 10/8
Huck landed a serious of right hands this round one of which dropped Minto
Round 10 fight stopped, looks as though the corner told the ref Minto was done so
Robert Byrd waved it off, smart move as Minto was way behind and would of just
taken more punishment
Huck cannot fight going backwards and is open defensively when backed up, when
you back him up he will throw occasional jab but he will mainly shell up and
give you both sides of his body as he is square a lot of the time, he also likes to fight
in spurts and pinch rests as he will do very little early on then come on sporadically by
throwing hard combos, usually the right hands and he likes to throw this big uppercut
to, Huck is also a fighter that will answer your attacks when you nail him which always
makes it a good competitive fight.

Round 1 Cecilio Santos
Cecilio Santos was a bit more active imo and he landed
a nice 1 2 on Arce then later in the round a left hook
Round 2 Arce
More aggressive this round and more consistent, particularly
with the left hook to the body, although Santos came on right
at the end
Round 3 Cecilio Santos
Arce lookS like a shot fighter as he gets sharp shooted by the accurate
counter right hands and left hooks of Cecilio Santos
Round 4 Arce (close)
This was not an easy round to score for me but i felt Arce tried to impose
his size on Cecilio Santos early and may have just edged it on his
aggression.
Round 5 Arce (close)
This could of easily swung Cecilio Santos's way as it was Arce early as he tried
to impose his extra size and strength but toward the end Cecilio Santos sharp
shooted him with accurate head shots and could of stole the round.
Round 6 Arce
Arce's pressure definitely starting tell now, Cecilio Santos was getting painted
near the ropes toward the end of this round
Round 7 Arce came out where he left off in round 6 by putting hella pressure on
Cecilio Santos and cranking up that left hook the body, that left hook is what turned
the fight his way as Cecilio Santos went down on a left hook to the body and
got counted out.
Arce looked shot against Mijares imo so it does not surprise me that he looked so
poor here, he got hit so easily at times and only seem to get something done when
he went all out letting his hands go and using his extra size, he should retire imo.
I watched Nishioko, Hasegawa/Montiel, Marcus Johnson vs Eduard Shobox telecast on DVD so i did not get chance to do a detailed scorecard.

Anselmo Moreno vs Nehomar Cermeno
1. Moreno, 10-9
Very cagey opening round. Moreno is coming forward and Cermeno moving a bit, but Moreno landed more punches in the form of jabs and counter lefts. The ring is on the smaller side, BTW.
2. Cermeno, 10-9
Moreno landed some nice little right hooks and straight lefts, but Cermeno took it by landing more clean straight rights to the head and body.
3. Moreno, 10-9
Cermeno didn’t do much this round, not until the last thirty seconds or so when the two started exchanging and Moreno got the better of him. Moreno also landed more over the course of the round with his right hook and left hands to the body.
4. Moreno, 10-9
I think Moreno shaded this round with his pressure and that he landed the few effective punches that there were in the round, a straight left and right hand. He went to the body a couple of times. Cermeno is waiting a lot and not doing much of anything.
5. Cermeno, 10-9
Close round, but I feel Cermeno edged it. Moreno was able to land some jabs, a few straight left and his right hooks. However, Cermeno was able to land harder right hands to the body and head and he was more active in comparison to his last few rounds. Whenever he lands, the crowd cheers.
6. Moreno, 10-9
Moreno takes this round by landing his jab and left hand. Both fighters went to the body. But Cermeno is waiting a lot and not throwing a lot. That combined with Moreno’s pressure and cleaner punches give Moreno the round.
7. Cermeno, 10-9
Cermeno takes this round on his clean effective punching. The first minutes passed by without a single punch landed, but then Cermeno picked it up and landed hard to the body and nice right hands to the hand. Moreno tried to get back into the round, but Cermeno answered him with more landed punches.
8. Cermeno, 10-9
Clear round for Cermeno. He’s become more active this round and was able to stun Moreno with a right hand in this round. However, Moreno’s defense and ability to slip punches allowed to weather the storm.
9. Moreno, 10-9
Cermeno had little success in this round. Moreno takes this round clearly by landing his straight left hand and working the uppercut and right hook on the inside. This round was funny, both of Moreno’s shoes had to be taped and is causing him to slide and lose balance all over the ring.
10. Moreno, 10-9
Moreno started out well, landing his jab, left cross, and right hook. Cermeno started to come on by landing his own shots, but all the while, Moreno was landing his. Cermeno landed a nice right hand at the bell, but it wasn’t enough to take it for me.
11. Even, 9-9
Cermeno is deducted for a low blow in this round. He’s hit Moreno a few times low prior to this, and to be fair, they were all on the cup and not on the belt line. The round was close up to the deduction, but knowing he’s been deducted a point, Cermeno comes on and lands the cleaner punches with a high activity down the stretch, in order to take the round.
12. Cermeno, 10-9
Both guys really went out for in this round, landing their shots. However, I thought Cermeno did better closing out the round. NOTE: I missed the first thirty seconds due to the fact the Japanese broadcast was showing highlights from the previous round.
I also feel this was a difficult fight to score and it was a very close on, so I can see a close decision for either guy.
Early on Moreno was landing the cleaner counters as he pressured Cermeno. Cermeno wasn't doing much, except for going to the body a lot. Yeah, body work it always good, but when you pretty much go to the body for an entire rounds and your opponent is having success at mixing his attack, I prefer the latter.
I think Cermeno knew he was trailing at the half and that's when he upped his attack, which then got a response from Moreno in nine and ten. Ultimately, I think Cermeno's body work early on worked, as in round eleven and twelve Moreno appeared to slow down a bit.
I don't think it was controversial at all. The crowd was cheering for whenever Cermeno landed, and given that Moreno is a pitty pat puncher, it may seem that Cermeno can take the rounds by landing much less and less often to the head. However, Moreno was landing cleaner shots and making Cermeno miss by using his very good upper body movement.
I definitely believe that Moreno is better of when he opponent comes to him and hie's able to run him into his counters and get them to chase him. When he comes forward, he's a bit more open.
I watched for the first time the Randall Tex Cobb- Ken Norton fight. And what a slugfest this was! Both fighter were in great shape and had their moments throughout the fight...
