He was actually 25. Both Lewis and Vits were gassed, but Lewis was coming on. Being up 4 rounds to 2 in a 12 round fights does not by any mean indicate the fighter in the lead would have won when he did in fact lose fairly. You can argue till you're blue in the face but can't change the facts.

Wow it has really been that long huh. I was only 13 when that fight happened. And I can say that no matter how many times I watched it, there is still a sense anxiety when I watch it to this day. I just think it's a special fight. It's so intense both the fight and the discussions about it, just look at how much emotion it still brings out of people.

I was thinking that myself when I watched it again yesterday. The 2000's version of Foreman-Lyle.

You're correct one thing though, I am wasting my time trying to convince your biased self with facts.
Are you slow? You said Vits was "pre prime" vs Lewis. You said he didn't start his career until he was 26. That was false on your part. So what if he was 31 when he fought Lewis. How is that not prime? Lewis was 37, and weighed in a career high. These are facts. It is also a fact the being down 4-2 in rounds does not guarantee you will lose a fight that could be 12, 10, or 8 rounds even. You can do the math over and over, but this is a FACT. A fact that was already proven by Lewus when he turned Vits face into minced meat.

He out landed Lewis, and was up 4-2 on all three cards. We all saw how much energy he had left when he learned the fight was stopped on a cut that was not bleeding. Lewis was dead tired and likely would have been TKO'd had the match continued. Now, if you will excuse me I have work to do this AM, and a big match is coming up soon that has my attention.
You saying Vits was far from his best is comical since many consider that fight his best showing. And if you think he lacked experience after 33 fights and a decorated amateur career, you're just being obtuse. Lewis certainly wasn't at his peak and still won. Scores don't matter nor punches thrown when you get stopped. And he was stopped because Lennox landed the better punches, unless you want to continue with the ridiculous narrative it was the tape, dreadlocks or headbutts that opened those cuts. Ray Leonard was down against Hearns in their first fight and couldn't win on the cards. But guess what, he won. Scores are irrelevant in boxing if you can't continue to fight, even if he wanted to.

Lewis likely would have been stopped? You could say that. I can counter with Lewis still would have stopped Vits and caused permanent career ending injury had they gone on. Neither can be proven. The FACT remains, Lewis won, and did so at age 37, past his best and at a career hight in weight. That's not me guessing, that is me telling you 100% facts, cowboy.

How is it proven the cut was solely caused by punches?

Lewis was down 4-2, gassed, and said he would give the re-match. Did he?

              - - The first cut that turned out to be the major one once Lewie targeted it was caused by the infamous loose tape that trainers are notorious for. HBO went through all the fight footage to show it, a missed Lewie right hand replete with flashing, slashing loose tape.

And no, to the ignominy of Lewie fans, Lewie went back on his word after making Vit do handstands and jump hoops medically, all because Lewie Mommy see Vit, she say U not fighting that guy. U retiring now to support me in comfort...The end...R.I.P. Lewie. Alas we knew U not...

Why don't you explain the 3 lawsuits you say Vits won against Lewis before carrying on with another conspiracy theory?

Lewis owed Vits nothing, just like Vits owed the crowd nothing in the Byrd fight when he promised to get his belt back. Only difference is Lewis won and retired, he didn't stay around for years being rated next to the guy who beat him.

I look at this as if psychologically they both had the same problem. Vits did say he had been training for Lewis for the past year, so he was anticipating the fight anyway. He certainly stepped up to the occasion. As I already posted, I believe this was his best showing, even in defeat. Certainly no shame in losing to a fighter like Lewis.
