  • Tyson vs bruno 1996

This was the only fight really in his second career where he truly resembled what he was capable of in his prime. That and the round 3 of his rematch with holyfield before he bit his ear off. Any explanation as to why? I remember reading in his autobiography that he had a crazy camp for the bruno fight while he barely trained for the first holyfield fight.

    - - Not sure what you're trying to say. Bruno was Brave, but grossly overmatched in both fights, needlessly Brutalized by his Manager, but I suppose he made career purses which is what counts at that level.

It was his first rivalry he had a lot of fire going into it , he saw Holyfield fight Bobby Czyz and thought it would be a walk through watching him struggle and win on controversy with some substance burning Czyz eyes ? I think he genuinely disliked Bruno ,not so much Holyfield .

Lol, you know how the city is. I know it's kind of a stereotype but when you walk up to a black guy in New York City generally speaking you'll get either New York accent, or some other urban equivalent.

I've noticed that there is a general dislike for the English accented black heavyweights from some of the American hardscrabble Black fighters who have come up in the cities.

Because the accent strikes one as sophisticated at times, even effeminate, it's perceived as a sign of weakness.

I think Tyson really realized he could eat Bruno for lunch and when you look at Bruno and how he spoke, it only confirmed that fact to Mike.

I saw this fight on T.V ( both fights ) I actually remember the first one better in the ring more but I remember the lead up to the second more . I remember wanting this big guy Bruno to put up a fight bc Tyson was really starting to mow guys down , well that happened an exact year later when Tyson lost to Buster unfortunately. Had Tyson kept it together imop he becomes the greatest heavyweight of all time without debate bc I don’t think anyone defeats him for at least a good 5 years after 1990 .

One had to be around for that time like we were. The amount of dominance he displayed. Dominance over competition is often overlooked I mean look at Roy Jones. I think Tyson was the perfect package if he kept his head movement, his legs, and his temper lol.

Peter Mcneely and Buster Mathis Jr were also “grossly overmatched” but tyson looked like **** in both fights.

I’m sure there’s a few older then me on here on here ,the difference between most and me is all I did was watch and study any type of combat sports available back then even WWF was considered a combat sport in the 80”s because there wasn’t much outside of boxing and having a great fight on VHS was considered a gift bc you can rewatch it anytime you want etc..etc….I actually knew about submission fighting and kickboxing martial art called Pancreas/shoot fighting in 1988 I was 14 and told everyone that type of fighting is coming to the states and everyone laughed at me , that became in 1992 and I knew of it bc of Bart Vale the first American to become a champion in it which is rare vids of you can find them .

Anyway yea Tyson was the near perfection fighter his only weakness is he can become lazy on the inside after a few rounds and let his opponent’s but these were lopsided fights of you really score them accurate. Back then they even got Hulk Hogan to consider fighting him in wrestling that’s how bad he was destroying everyone, but ultimately it became Buster Douglas not Hogan . Lol

Lol, yup, VHS... I still have boxes of stuff taped on them. We did not have any of the resources and yet these resources go to waste... People do not appreciate what it is like to be able to find a fight on Youtube.

Unfortunately I taped over many of mine I had footage even of the early UFC you can’t find in the original broadcast…..never in a million years would I have thought though we can go back and find fights on a network and order movies without blockbuster….even that was advanced for its time , kind of miss the fights over who got what tape first and who was charged for not rewind be kind tape …lol …todays guys don’t understand that’s a tough mindset itself rushing to the movie store to get that movie ,they just do t get it let alone telling me how tough they are on here bc they grew up hard after watching the new age crap they think is good . Lol

And that’s just movies imagine if I meet someone on here and it’s personal..these kids haven’t a clue what hard is and that was a regular weekend night in some places . Lol
