Do we really need 5 weight divisions to cover the 13 pounds from 105-118?

In the old days they only had 2 divisions and thus 2 champs. Now those 2 champs have been replaced by 20 champs across 4 belts and 5 divisions.

It makes even less sense considering people are larger than ever, so if 2 divisions was enough back then its definitely enough now when people are so much bigger.

I completely agree, two divisions is enough.

Tough to say when you look at it through bodyweight percentages. I've always thought 168 was the most superfluous weight class, but yeah I don't even follow 105 (And I'm that low weightclass following guy) it's mainly just a Thailand division.

Personally, I'd like them to go back to the original 8 glamour divisions. The weight limit is the limit, not the weight everyone has to weigh in at.

Extra pounds are relatively more meaningful for tiny fighters. Imagine Tyson Fury 5 lbs. overweight and then 5 extra pounds on a straw weight. It would the best shape we ever saw Fury in but the worst shape for the straw weight. Those newer divisions put more boxers in the mix. That can't be bad.

I don't mind all those extra divisions--I do not consider them extra. In fact we may need a few more divisions between light heavy and unlimited. 25 lbs. gaps between divisions is not practical unless you want the twain never to meet. A 12 pound gap between welter and lightweight was ridiculous too. Please do not point out what Armstrong, Duran and Pacquaio were able to do. They are hardly average.

Like Willow, what I want is one champion per division. I don't care how many divisions there are. It is about right these days in the lower weights. Now LH and beyond needs a little work.

No. The body weight % get higher on avg as you go up in weight. If you had the same weight % in the lil guy division all the way up there would be like 27 divisions or some sh^t. I'd like to see a 6%ish jump from the first division all the way up. Even it out more.

Im a Shigeoka brothers fan but there shouldn't even be a 105 division. According to boxrec there are only a couple hundred active fighters in that division & other lil guy divisions. Meanwhile the deepest divisions got 2k+ ppl in them. Thats silly.

I have no idea how grown men keep down to 105-108 pounds

Some. But I would split them at 10 piunds below Middleweight and by 15 above. Something like that. Maybe cut Bridgerweight at 220 even. Maybe. Some of those seperations are ****** small.

The bigger issue to me is the numebr of belts. Those lower divisions were cracking in the 70's and 80's. They had the same amount of weight classes, but only 2 belts instead of 4 so guys ****ing fought eachother!
