No, Frazier was hurt. It had to be stopped. It was over. Only a psycho ref allows that type of beating to continue. Where would you rate Norton's chin on a 1-10 scale?

He made it to the top level because he beat Muhammad Ali. Once officially, arguably more than once.

Shavers chin was even weaker past 30. He got Koed by regular hitters.

Frazier could still fight! I give Nortons chin a 3.

Who got KO'd by regular hitters? Again where do you rate Norton's chin on a 1-10 scale?

Okay now I see it. You say a 3. Ali and Holmes KO'd many contenders! As did Quarry, and Cobb. They didn't dent Norton's chin, which you think is a 3 out of 10. Makes perfect sense to me.

Holmes was a finesse boxer first and foremost.. perfect opponent for him.

But Norton obviously had no resilience to big shots. Unless you guys can name a huge puncher he could hang with..

Are there so few big hitters that you can reach top 5 without ever having to meet one?
                  - - Don't need a big chin to beat Ali like a drum along with Young. Also beat Quarry who KOed Shavers and undefeated Mac Foster.

My point is you can't use all time punchers to grade chins at heavyweight. This is something that lazy writers or boxing fans do.

Notion stood up to Holmes and Ali. And he beat some hitters in Quarry and Bobbick too. Nothing was wrong with his chin when he fought Tex Cobb at 37. Tex could hit to and was a solid hitter.

So Norton chin is really say a " 6 " on the scale of 1-10. Age and facing all time puncher's@ heavyweight skew the conversation. I am Norton fan BTW which means my opinion is informed.

Actually you can because almost every HW era had ATG punchers in it and you would have to face them sooner or later if you were elite. Norton failed the test about as bad as you can fail them. Like someone already said, there's no shame in getting caught and finished by the likes of Foreman, Shavers, Cooney. But by all 3 of them, all in the 1st round pretty much as soon as they touched his jaw? That's a below average chin.

Having a weak chin also doesn't mean you get ko'd by everyone who could punch on some level etiher. I don't think Quarry and Cobb really tested his chin.

To answer your question, I don't do 1 to 10 scales. I rate by below average, average and above average. Norton had a below average chin in my eyes. Ali and Holmes had average punching power to me, Foreman and Shavers above average. See what I'm saying.

Second round against Foreman, but still.. Ali did not have average power .. he had less power than Young.. he punched either in a way that they missed it, or accumulation.
