Agree regarding Tyson's nature and at times lack of character. No doubt there.

But head butting is more dangerous than biting or elbows, and has its own rule, and manatory punishment, while other fouls don't.

The The London Prize Ring Rules lists, biting, scratching, low blows, hitting while down, and kicking as possible fouls which the the referee needs to address, but the ref is given discretion, not instruction on how to penalize. [Rules #15, #16, #17, #18, #19.]

But the "head butting" [Rule #14] on the other hand, is not included with that group. It is given its own separate foul rule, where immediate disqualification is mandatory.

There is no other foul listed for immediate DQ, except head butting.

Head butting is a fight changer and can cause career ending damage.

Anyway the 'founding fathers' of prize fighting certainly saw the the infraction as more dangerous than biting.

Biting is ugly, kicking embarrassing, low blows cheap shots, but head butting is very dangerous.

P.S. In state law all the lesser infractions, e.g. low blow ir biting would be considered assault and battery.

Attacking another person with one's head could rise to aggravated battery. The head will be seen as a weapon capable of doing deadly harm.

Unless one is HIV possitive, bitting will never be viewed in that light.

I agree that Tyson should have been DQ'd for the headbutts he landed on Berbick and others. Always being the shorter man, he had the advantage delivering headbutts using the strength of his legs to provide more leverage going up with his head.

Didn't work so well for the Saddest Man on the Planet here, when he tried to butt Evander back, it backfired and he pretended that Holyfield was the one butting him:

As for your argument, everybody knows biting doesn't cause that level of harm but it is a more disgusting and disgraceful act on a primal level that disgraced the sport more. holyfield wasn't definately on steroids as most fighters look so after diet and training with specialists.

I reckon something you know. I reckon it is possible that the entire sporting world is taking ped's and just are ahead of the investigators. it must be as once some do it they raise the bar meaning you need to take ped's to compete. that is very cynical but it is possible these doctors are ahead of the testers in how to get away with it.
