$50 Ringside seat translates into $800 today.

Not unrealistic for HW fight today. Not a mega fight price but not a mega fight.

I always liked that Dempsey took care of his friends, Fitzsimmons and Miske, by giving them his first defense.

And that they gave an 'at the end' Sam Langford one last decent payday?

Dempsey had an admiration for Langford that he expressed often.

Using Dempsey's sparing partner Big Bill Tate as the opponent they could protect Langford from taking a beating.

P.S. Fitzsimmons and Dempsey seemed to have been good people. Kearns and Rickard not so much.

Dempsey boxed two exhibitions for Langford and contributed financially to a couple of other benefits for him.
