Would you make that argument about Wald?

I would argue, he either dominates with his "robotic" style or will be beaten.

I do agree that most often we are too quick to make the false assumption you suggest. Guilty as charged.

But Wald 'adjusting' to anyone just seems unlikely.

Just throwing it out there for debate.
Fair enough about Wlad, but then again for over a decade his strict adherence to his style allowed him to be undefeated. Now I am sure part of that is due to a lack of variation in the heavyweights, but I imagine more of it is due to my original point- ability far outstrips style.

That being written, I think even Wlad had differences within his style, as do most. Nobody goes out and fights the same fight every time, everyone's style allows for some differentiation.

So many good comments here I have to give a lot of likes.

"He's in the best shape of his life."

We saw a cliche play out in Eubank-Smith. 95% were picking Smith to repeat and most picked by KO

I find "Ali is the greatest" too big of a cliche, one that is not even true for one simple reason - there is no single greatest, there are some we consider so.

Not sure if you want want a reply; certain I don't have one.

Anyway, my favorite boxing cliché (which was noted by another poster) is how all cut-men are legendary.
Thats my favorite one. I once had to make a fake resume for a class once, and included the phrase "legendary cutman"

                    Upstairs, downstairs.

"He went downstairs and then came right back upstairs."

That is a Jim Lampley special. He must go to sleep saying it.
