Botti is a good historian. He eat you for lunch. Big surprise you have issues with him. If he posts here, he the nth poster you don't jel with. Noice a pattern?

Now I don't wish to denigrate the writing ability of the author, he is very clever and the book did read well, but I simply couldn't take to a book that was fiction disguised as fact.
What a backhanded compliment. But then again, you did not read the book.

But as a biography it is not going to work. In a biography the auther needs to be omnipotent, or how else can he bring all his 20-20 hindsight to the evaluation.

I could see such a structure as a way to examine a historical boxing period, but not a bio.

Writing within the limits of the protagonist's knowledge opens the door for exciting fiction but not good history.
Absolutely in agreement. And I, Claudius one of the best IMO.

He invited me to join his new forum, this was on another forum we are both on,I was reluctant at first knowing his hero worship for Jeannette but he said it would be fine.I made a post mildly disagreeing with him and he had a titanic melt down.
Ive discussed this with a Moderator on here and we both agreed I should have followed my first instinct and stayed away.
No I haven't read the book and said that in plain English, all I have done is post some reviews of it.
I havent bad mouthed him and it was him seeking me out to join his forum not the other way around.

The only time anyone seeks you out is to ban you! As McGrain ,another good historian, and a moderator on Classic stated .," I should never have allowed him to come back here, it was a big mistake ,"and everyone heartily agreed with him!
        NOICE????
