Yes but is true that he lost many rounds to a men who weighed in at super middle weight and cruiser weights. At least they would have been that today. A good modern day skilled heavyweight is about 6'5" + , 240+ pounds, with an 80" reach. Small men do not match up. I am not talking about bum of the most guys.

Today's big men are like three weight classes above there Joe Louis opponents that bettered him or out scored points him on the cards until his power came late and his chiny opponents were knocked out. Today the big men aren't just big, they are skiiled.

Is he a world beater? No he’s not. I’d give him a shot at catching Joshua. Joshua would look funny trying to hit galento, he’s just a big target. funny you mention James Toney. Well for 1 he started his career at 160. So his version of 240 is pure blubber. Galento is actually a heavyweight. Even at 240 hes not has fat as you think, he’s “tubbyâ€�. James was actually obese and talked like he was as well.

second, Toney was a pretty good heavyweight by contemporary standards, and considering he was obese and only sparred for training.

Louis could be hit. That’s for sure. And Galento had one helluva chin. Plus Galento had a powerful, sneaky left hook that came from way down below. Never hook with a hooker. But in the end, Joe’s hand speed and devastating punching power took over the fight. It started with a right hand and then Tony’s face started to open up. A chopping left, almost too quick to see while Galento was rushing in, opens up the right side of his face near the corner of his mouth. Multiple combinations then a series of vicious left and rights in rapid succession along the ropes. You can see Galento’s head snap back. Near the end, Tony is backing up as he ducks one right hand but is too slow and staggered when a right left combo finishes the fight and he falls down to his right crawling to his corner. Honestly, I’m amazed at the amount of punishment Galento took until he finally succumbed to Joe’s onslaught.

Great footage! Did you notice no ten count when a boxer went down and the immediately resumed the fight when the boxer got up? Galento had a reputation as a dirty fighter and you could clearly see him holding and hitting and head butting every chance he could. Before the fourth round, you could have viewed the fight as even with each fighter getting knocked down with Louis being rocked at least two other times in earlier rounds. But Louis knew how to finish a fight. What I really appreciated with this restored footage is the accuracy, speed and power of Joe’s combinations plus his awesome power. Really enjoyable to watch.

Joshua has to be one of the most overrated heavyweights in the history of boxing. Skill? He’s a powder puff that can’t take a punch. Galento would have knocked him out. Unless, of course, you believe Joshua is a heavier puncher and better combo thrower than Joe Louis. Right.

With 12 ounce gloves and facing opponents under 200 pounds, No I do not think Joshua did not hit harder than Louis did with 6-8 ounce gloves. No, I think Louis threw better combinations. Am I clear?

Joshua rates as a top 5 modern day super heavyweight who can fight. Just because Usyk can out box him and Ruiz hit hard enough to knock him out ... okay so what! Louis was KO'd 2 times by sub 200 pound men and out scored by others on the score cards ( which in some cases were biased toward Louis ). That is worse if we compare and contrast

IMO Joshua knocks Galento out without being floored. His range alone makes the fight as mismatch. Get real. Galento lost 26 times, and was KO's 6 times in what ring magazine calls the worst era of heavyweight boxing.
