  • Museum PieceL Light heavyweight title

Starting at Strawweight (105 lbs.), the weight limits of boxing's divisions, including tweeners, ascend the weight ladder with stringent

    conservatism until...:

    105
    108
    112
    115
    118
    122
    126
    130
    135
    140
    147
    154
    160
    168
    175
    200
    Unlimited

Everyone of them is made up. The 15 lbs. gap between the original middleweight and light heavyweight was peculiar for a short while, because I think many lower divisions had been split priorly, making that gap stand out. The original gaps in poundage were:

    6
    8
    9
    11
    12
    13
    15
    Unlimited

These days a tempting 25 pound gap exists between light heavyweight and and cruiser. Might as well juniorize another division, since the light heavyweight has lost its historical implication anyway, for it seems unlikely that a light heavyweight champ will ever fight a real heavyweight champ again. Those guys are pulling double duty right now as light cruiserweights, with a big gap between, until another division gets created.

Light heavyweight is the most screwed division. I think they could literally sue and win. Everyone else gets to partake of a financial feast of titillating title matches from above and below, but the LHs only from below. What part of suing do they not understand?

My suggestion to admin@boxingscene is to allow a short window of time after posting in which to edit the name of the thread when it contains a bunch of ugly mistake.

Personally I think they should have left the Cruiserweight limit at 190 and lightheavy would still be a marquee division. Than again I don't think there should be more than 12 weight divisions either. The ABC orgs really mucked things up with their greed and desire for more championship belts.

Could you have even imagined them finally having a good idea, the dynasty that brought us 12 round championship bouts, heftier muffs, Silver Championships, Franchise Championships, Diamond Championships and Eternal Championships. Their ongoing commemorative belts series has a place in many fans' memory vault:
          • 24K Gold — Floyd Mayweather Jr. (September 14, 2013)
          • Emerald — Floyd Mayweather Jr. (May 2, 2015)
          • Onyx — Joe Smith Jr. (December 17, 2016)
          • Huichol I — Canelo Álvarez (May 6, 2017)
          • Money — Floyd Mayweather Jr. (August 26, 2017)
          • Huichol II — Gennady Golovkin (September 16, 2017)
          • Chiapaneco I — Gennady Golovkin (May 5, 2018)

          • Health Care Hero — Errol Spence Jr. (December 5, 2020)
          • Mestizo — Canelo Álvarez (May 8, 2021)

          • ****** — Sujithan Suntharavel (October 16, 2021)

          • Union — Tyson Fury (April 23, 2022)
          • Celtic-Boricua — Katie Taylor (April 30, 2022)
          • Zapoteca — Canelo Álvarez (September 17, 2022)
          • Elizabethan — Claressa Shields (October 15, 2022)

Oh, Look! Tommy Fury got one. And I see Mauricio already has a champ installed. Was there a fight or just a processing fee?

12 rounds is enough damage for fighters to have to endure to make their money.

That's actually the way that I was taught to be on here, my on-line personality was made by these people.

Hogwash? Are you implying that boxing and dain bramage don't go hand in hand?

You've been pleasant enough to be my friend, but I have very few friends on here. It'll take a while for me to trust you after all of the bullsheet that I've taken in this god forsaken place.

What thread did we first interact in?

Welcome to The Scene, it's much like Thunder Dome in that Mel Gibson movie.

Keep your guard up and then kick 'em in their nadz. Good luck! ................Rockin'

Rock, I am an old man with an old man's disposition. I find myself amazing not for anything but my crankiness. So no worries. I came here to talk about boxing and socialize. My 0pinions are probably weird and most of these fellas are more sophisticated on boxing. They talk about other things too, which is good. Yeah, they trash each other a bit, but they are nice boys I believe.

Tell me about your boxing. boxing.
