I think that he would, but he did go wrong somewhere down the road. He did drugs, didn't he? I think his losses to Little, Liles and Rocchigiani could all been avoided had he been more focused. And he underestimated Toney perhaps. Not only that, but Toney angered him and made him too eager to show that he was a better boxer than Toney, he wanted to embarrass him.

Gotta give him credit tho how he got up from that devastating shot...

Nunn was done by the time he fought Rocchigiani, well past his best, he did okay a few rounds but he could not keep the fight in centre ring because he did not have the stamina to at that point, Rocchigiani basically won the fight because Nunn could not keep off the ropes. A prime Nunn would of beaten him though because he had the stamina, legs to keep himself off the ropes.

Yea, no doubt. Rocchigiani was beaten up by Maske twice and Michalczewski the second time.

I ran into Nunn at a Denny's just before he left to "train" for the Merqui Sosa fight (I'm from the same town he's from), and I worked with a girlfriend of his at the time who was there so I felt I could nudge into a converation with him. He's a smart guy, just with an ego you wouldn't believe. He said he got careless and was showing off against Toney in front of the hometown crowd. Toney wouldn't give him a rematch, and probably never would, he claimed. The Goosens weren't paying him, so he dropped them. He also said that the Toney fight was going to be his last at 160 anyway, because he couldn't make weight anymore. I couldn't help but glance down at the plates of fries and mozz sticks in front of him when he said that. It was a fun conversation, but I could tell he was convinced that he could get by on his skills alone. I don't think he seriously trained for a fight after Kalambay.
