Could the “Big ****” pull off the Huge upset tonight?

Personally, I haven't really thought so since this fight was made, at all....but looking it over I've got to give him at least a shot.

He's an underdog tonight. We all understand that.

But BoxRec's number 19 contender Zhilei Zhang looks and sounds Confident! Really confident!

For China and For Boxing, an upset could be a big Deal tonight.

Imagine China, the world's most populous nation having a live horse in the Heavyweight race.

A win, even a narrow one over BoxRec's number 37 Hrgovic, the much more written about fighter, would catapult “The Big ****” into the title picture, as a frontrunner for a lucrative (to whoever he gets a shot against) Championship fight; likely to be held in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou or Hong Kong in an epically proportioned event; used to celebrate China's world placement and status.

He is already a national treasure there, with a 21-0-1 (19 KO's) pro record and is an Olympic Silver medalist, has fought in every world championships of the 2000's, and has wins over Joseph Parker, Ivan Dychko, Vyacheslav Glazkov, Erik Pfeifer, Islam Timurziev, Sardor Abdullaev, Con Sheehan & Sean Turner.

At 6'6” 277 he's had “the best training camp of my career”, and although I have my doubts about his chances tonight, I have to consider the possibility of his rising to the occasion; and I can imagine what it would mean to the Chinese people to have an athlete, much less a heavyweight boxing contender, to rise to the global fame level that a win tonight would take him to.

Everyone is focused on the historic main event tonight and I am to; but the Zhilei Zhang vs. Hrgovic lead in could make some Big **** history too.

      - - Big **** a very under rated Big Boned, Big Unit making 6-4, 240 BigFoot look puny.

Did himself and the Chinese people who have a reputation of being unable to fight proud. Had Big Foot hurt a few times and made the 12 rd distance.

I guess I was on to something.ESPN's coverage of the fight:

Filip Hrgovic scored a close unanimous-decision victory over Zhilei Zhang in a tougher-than-expected battle to earn an IBF heavyweight title shot. The scores: 115-112, 115-112 and 114-113. Hrgovic, a 10-1 favorite, was floored by a cuffing right hand in the closing moments of Round 1 and struggled during the first half. However, the 30-year-old found new life later on as Zhang, who weighed 277 pounds, appeared to tire.

"It was a very close fight," said Hrgovic, who captured bronze for Croatia at the 2016 Olympics. "I was losing the fight but in the later rounds I pushed myself and gave everything and gave him some huge shots.

"The knockdown, I wasn't hurt at all," he added. " ... To be honest, he surprised me. He's better than I thought. He gave me a tough fight."

Hrgovic (15-0, 12 KOs) long has been regarded as one of the best heavyweight prospects in boxing, but the disappointing performance raises questions about his level.

Zhang (24-1-1, 19 KOs), on other hand, figures to land another meaningful fight. The 39-year-old from China believed he did enough to win the fight on the scorecards.

Hrgovic overcame an early knockdown / push down and a tough class of heads with happens when you fights southpaws. Two tough things to over come, yet he regrouped and won 8 rounds to 4.

                - - Zhang turning pro couldn't fight and boxing skills less than crude. His gold medal was an Olympic gift to his home country as the Olympics use boxing for every 4 years.

His early pro forays would be farcical had his opposition been better, but it was worse than farcical as was the officiating around those fights. Clearly his chin was as big a concern as his boxing skills. After the Forrest fight where he suddenly turned to warm jelly after no punishment, his stamina was questioned, though having some medical training I agreed with his team it seemed to be during an easy fight some undisclosed medical problem that cropped up, perhaps diabetes that Eastern immigrants sometimes develop when exposed a Western diet.

At any rate, I'd step right into the fray with him using this loss as bait as I think he could whoop, ie KO most fringe contenders to maybe win an international level belt and title shot. Don't think Usyk or AJ gonna be around after this year and nobody knows if Flubber is gonna be alive at his rate of mental decline.
