I’ve heard stories of some people seeing the tiny ring they were expected to fight in and just back out.
I think anything in boxing can be negotiated, and the ring size should be mentioned at all fights.
I remember Fury had them rip up the canvas and replace it with thinner foam vs Wlad before he would fight. He thought it was intentionally made extra squishy so he couldn’t move as quick. Fair enough. He got his way and won.
It’s the long winded, dancers, rappers, singers, entrances that annoy me. No way should you make your opponent wait for your ten minute plus corny entrance. I like it back when it was straight business time and they made it to the ring in a straight line with no stopping. Plus guys like Canelo when they are the challenger and demand to come in second ( like he did vs Bivol ) are being disrespectful to the sport. That’s some pro wrestling bull****.

      - - Lets not forget National Anthems. Don't blame Canelo for Bivol not having his Russian national anthem played as it was reported in the media.

If boxing is a racial sport ripe for lowbrow riposte by DKing promoters, most assuredly it is a nationalistic sport in an International Market. Is there no challenge to the expected butchering of the American Anthem soon to be delivered on a knee?

I watched Canelo come up from the start. Huge fan of his in ring work and ability to improve. I only blame Canelo for demanding to come into the ring second while he was the challenger to the belts. If boxing is life, then it’d be nice if he honoured the tradition and the champion who holds the belts he’s fighting for instead of putting himself above it. He’s the A-side and I get that but it’s disrespectful to the sport and shows a lack of class. In the end he wasen’t even the better fighter in the ring. He just showed that he’s worth more and has stroke. Like I said everything seems to be negotiable in boxing. He put his own ego above the essence of boxing. It’s a real shame. He tried to do the same vs GGG. I’m aware on the other side some fans and some veteran pros might think that if you can get it then why not? I’m just one person.
As for kneeling at an Anthem, there will always be something to protest. There might be several people kneeling all for different causes. The irony with humans is someone who takes focus off of you creates resentment.
Remember the Simpsons episode with the big boxing fight? The one fighter says he dedicates the fight to his deceased trainer. The other fighter then says he also dedicates the fight to his opponents deceased trainer. Course that cause contention and they start going at it. Brilliant.
I just like when a card moves along fast between fights. Not a million video packages and redundant round table talks where way too many media personalities repeat themselves. I like it when a guy doesn’t have to wait fifteen minutes in the ring for his opponents corny entrance. Boxing was my first sport, so I guess they have me already. It’s everyone else they are trying to attract.

          - - I let my nascent DAZN subscription lapse because their emphasis on their "entertainment package" is 100x greater than the quality of their boxing stream that has steadily gone downhill since it's peak a couple years back.

No bigger fan of Canelo could've been found than I, but since his $100 mil yacht and exotic car collection, he's just another spoiled, entitled Diva. Still like his fights though The Reynosa boxing conglomerate has undergone a similar transformation. Money does that to people, esp if they grow up not having enough of it although they were never impoverished. Whilst I don't think GGG is a walkover and I understand why they have to make this fight from a monetary and historical perspective, it has a seedy feel to it as GGG was also a fav of mine who's also become a Diva albeit a lesser one. There will be no cheers in Mudville for this one save the seedy bleachers and promoters.

To reference Canelo my brother likes to quote the line from Scarface “It’s too bad. Someone should have given it to you. You’d have been a nicer person.”

I love how hard he trains, and the jumps in weight he’s made. He’s not a good guy, he’s not a bad guy, he’s just Canelo. I can appreciate that.
Still whenever I see his docs it looks like everyone who knows him is fearful of him. The way he treated that reporter trying to do the horse dressage was a prime example. Everyone pretends he can sing. Course who knows with editing.
He’s not the natural outside the ring personality wise as the skilled fighter he is inside. Nobody gets it all, and I kind of like that. I wouldn’t want to have dinner with him. His polarization sells.
As for GGG I was onto him before he fought Proska. He looked great in the states but looking back his footwork, defence, skill was never at the level we thought. He always blocked a lot of punches with his face. He can be charming, funny, but often it’s trying too hard also. He got chewed up by the Canelo machine and stroke first two times around. He needed to look better than he did obviously. I expect he will get battered pretty bad this time around. I expect his corner to stop it. Burying his previous efforts further into the recess’s of history.

                  - I would add GGG what with the Holy Trinity of perfect initials as a Soviet fighter did quite well with Western business endorsements what with his Happy "I can't fight a lick" Face whilst in the middle of his all time middleweight title KO streak.

He don't look so happy after the Canelo rematch.
