I believe at some point Langford does defend his title against Johnson. In between taking on lucrative fights against great white hopes. You insist Langford was offered legit title shots with Johnson for $30K, so if Langford is offered the same $30K to fight Johnson I believe he accepts the challenge.

Not really so straight forward since he was sometimes promised $30,000 but then received less, like in the Frank Moran fiasco. Also was promised $30,000 for Flynn. He got that and more vs. Jeffries. Also vs. Willard.

          - - JJ equivocated Burns purse as champ with his own now as new champ, thus skipping out on his British financiers who agreed to back him if he returned to England to fight Langford.

In short, he was never worth 30 K until much later after his reputation had been savaged and was no longer important to him.

How much later? The Jeffries fight was a little less than 2 years after he got the title. They did very well for themselves in that fight. I suppose that's the good thing about being the champ. You get to call the shots and demand the purses to some degree.

Yeah, but we know the money wouldn't be there to see Johnny fight a black 'un, but the outcry would be loud and clear.

He was a very big spender and always needed money, lots of it.
Well, where do you think he gets more money? Not from fighting blacks, Sonny.

Like a modern day Broner, JJ was flushing easy money down the drain if U to be believed.
Wrong Johnson signed to defend against Langford in Australia public opinion vetoed the match. Not easy money but decent wages to defend against both Langford and McVey which he accepted and no amount of BS will ever change that fact.

                    $31,500 against Flynn.for one!
Johnson's purse for the Jeffries fight was $75.750 ie 75% of the total purse in all he took home $120,000 for that fight.
Johnson got just £3000 to challenge Burns.
Burns set the bar with his$30,000 demand to defend against him.
Johnson's purse for Moran was $35,000 which was tied up in a legal wrangle.
Pollack states Johnson got just $5000 for his fight with Battling Jim Johnson but he was broke and desperate for cash.

You seem a little confused here?

The most the Sporting Club offered Johnson to fight Langford was £3000.
Do you think a challengers purse should be the same as a champions?
