Doyle deserves great praise and recognition for being the writer/creator of Sherlock Holmes . However him and his wife were scumbags. They were scamming people with that spiritualism trash. It's why Houdini hated him so much.
Initially they hit it off. The downfall of the relationship was when Doles wife conducted a seance for Houdini where she supposedly contacted his mother via “automatic writing”. Houdini noted later Lady Doyle while being possessed by his mothers spirit wrote the sign of the cross at the top of the page, wrote in perfect English and provided no details about their family (he had four brothers and a sister living at that time, one half brother and his father were no longer living) everything written was “fluff”. Houdini noted his mother was ***ish and did not speak nor write English.

This event as time went by Houdini resented more and more leading to threats of lawsuits by the early 20’s. Doyle accused Houdini of being a psychic at a time where Houdini was making headlines exposing fake phenomena.

Thanks for the details. I knew it was something like that.

Houdini should have knocked out Doyles wife, then Doyle. Even with the size difference I think Houdini whips him.

Interestingly Houdini was an amateur boxer in his youth. There is also some information that indicates he helped manage a few fighters in his later years.

            - - I would just point out the obvious.

A spiritual séance conducted through an unknown medium connecting the earthly with an unknown, ethereal dimension that presupposes a plethora of phenomena beyond our understanding. Early mankind had no or few explanations of the millions of earthly occurrences that science eventually undertook to study, sometimes brilliantly, and other times fraudulently, and usually hit or miss, ect that is ongoing to this day.

Moses brought down from The Mount The Ten Commandments perfectly engraved in script of the day. Emperor Constantine saw a massive Christian Cross revealed in the parting of clouds before a key battle that he won that led to the Christianization of the Roman Empire, and so a few billion kicked buttocks later, here we be today still unable to quell much less understand the savagery of humankind.

A billion post-primeval chimps hacking away on keyboards hooked to supercomputers is the best we can do thus far.
