Is Duran the greatest fighter still alive today?

With drawing the color-line after having previously fought black fighters, turning down huge paydays, reportedly being mortally afraid to lose, reportedly lacking a fighting spirit, and avoiding skilled fighters his own size, was Jeffries perhaps overrated?
You were teeing that thread up to not only suggest he was overrated but cowardly.Comment

Here is how you framed it in the closing paragraph of your thread...
With drawing the color-line after having previously fought black fighters, turning down huge paydays, reportedly being mortally afraid to lose, reportedly lacking a fighting spirit, and avoiding skilled fighters his own size, was Jeffries perhaps overrated?

1. He drew the color line
2. Turned down huge paydays.
3.Was REPORTEDLY afraid to lose.
4. Was REPORTEDLY lacking a fighting spirit.
5. Avoided skilled fighters his size.
Then I ask for opinions.
My next post even stated that I thought the article wasn't exactly fair to him.
By the way, I do have to admit that I did find this article a bit distasteful being that it was right after Jeffries loss to Johnson. Way to kick a man when he's down. However, being that there are some hall of fame names that chimed in, I was wondering what you guys think.
And I also liked all the posts that said he wasn't overrated or said anything good about him.
I don't see the issue. The horror! The Horror!!!!!

I have no problem with that statement. It's factual.

When challenged for his dog whistle hate he replied I never made such a statement I only offered it as a "question" for thought and disussion.
I apologize . . . you are correct you never "said" he wss a coward you only "asked a question for thought and discussion;" you're as innocent as Tucker Carlson.
Why did you let Dr. Z get under your skin like that?
That post was such a disappointment to read I really would like to end any relationship with you.
Please act the gentleman and stop calling me out and I will do the same. Please.Comment

Tucker Carlson, Fox News once asked his audience "Are the ******** trying to take your house from you and give it to an illegal immigrant?

Leonard is not a close second. He played way too many games in order to get in the ring. No mas hardly counts at all because he purposely harvested a Duran who was not in top shape. No one gets giant legacy points for such antics. Duran is all by himself. He is the greatest fighter living, and by far.Comment

There's nothing to change. Nowhere did I call him a coward, just like you admitted to. Thank you for clearing that up.
Now if you want to discuss it further, stop hi******* this thread and write about it there. I'm tired of you hi******* threads.

Show me all the threads I hijacked. I tell you that you hijack threads so your adolescent brain just repeats it back to me like a child? You're the one who makes them all about Dempsey and then repeats himself over and over like a broken record. I ruined your life on here, exposed your mental illness. Even now, your hands are shaking, you're gaslighting everyone and your heart is pounding in your chest. I got to you, and you've been stalking me ever since Mr. Chollo.Comment

Always use your leverage. One has to argue that Duran's legacy is tarnished by it becuse he let himself get baited; his people weren't as bright/ evil as Leonard's (Trainer/Dundee). Who was speaking for Duran, Ray Arcel (?). Didn't the mob give him the pipe becuse he chose to be honest?
BUT this tarnish on his "legacy" IMO doesn't speak to the question at hand.
I never try to ID a GOAT but I would bet actuall money; if you asked 100 boxing wags to list the top five greatest living fighters, Duran would appear either one, two, three on all 100 lists.
Leonard would be on all 100 lists as well but he would appear as #1 or #2 on considerably fewer lists.Comment
