The hesitancy comes from hammern Hank being such an inveterate cheater. The man never stops cheating in a fight. When he headbutts to the body, it is still a headbutt. Now that man could not do a thing in an era where you were not allowed to lead with your head. But in mythical matchups he will do great, because modern fighters must go back to his era and fight under those conditions and referees, by the conventions of mythical matchups. We already know he can get away with using his head then. Headbuttin' Hank.

Thank you Queenie for that education.

All through my childhood my elders told me how Homicide Hank was robbed of his fourth title, the middleweight title, by a bad decision.

Now I realize that wasn't a title fight (save for the State of California who had a vested interest in calling it a title fight) the NYSAC wouldn't recognize the fight because it was only 10 rounds.

I wonder how that would have played out if Armstrong had won? I bet the fans/press may have pushed it into the history books anyway.

Also I always assumed that Garcia was a middleweight - in fact he had previously lost a welterweight title bid to Armstrong and for the California (second) fight he only weighted 153.

Armstrong's four title bid looks like another boxing legend that got legs under it.

In 1915 it wasn't 105 degrees in Havana!

        Agreed.

          Good point.
We don’t expect a superior NBA team to go undefeated through an entire basketball season.
Henry, like a lot of yesterday’s warriors, wasn’t given much time to heal and rest between fights.
