You bring up some questionable Pryor performances, but you can chalk that up to fighting at the level of the opposition.

Wouldn't you do the same with Sanchez vs Nelson than? Azuhma may have been a tough young fighter, but compared to Sal he was inexperienced. Do you not think Sanchez fought to his level of competition and underestimated Nelson?

I'm sure he did underestimate Nelson. But if he didn't do so, and Nelson was prime, fight would have gone down the same way.

I disagree. Fighters get lackadaisical and lazy when they think they have a fight in the bag. If it were a prime Nelson, Sanchez would have been more prepared and focused. There is no way to determine the fight would have gone down the same way.

Uh, Sanchez couldn't have gotten lazy and lackadaisical in the fight. He realized from round 1 that Nelson was for real. He prolly wasn't as prepared as he should have been for the fight, but he gave it everything he had once he realized what was in front of him. In the fights pryor was surprised in, he wasn't in there with world beaters. Hence his sense of urgency was never there. Not the case with Sanchez.

If you're not mentally focused going in, it is near impossible to give your best effort. This is why there have been so many upsets in history. Giving everything you have at that moment does not translate into giving your best.

Thing with the Sanchez KO of Nelson is.............Nelson was not stopped on any one punch, it was accumulative effect of punches he had received during the fight and the hot pace he set, he paid for both those things towards the end of the fight.

I thought you scoffed at such a philosophy Dunce? I mean Using your recent witty sarcastic post, does this not contradict what I have bolded in the second post here? because who on earth could believe(apart from yourself of course) that a 13-0 Azumah Nelson was at his peak when he fought the best eatherweight in the world and a 45 pro fight veteran in Salvador Sanchez?

Tyson peaked at an early age as did Naseem Hamed,However it sure as hell wasn't thirteen fights into their career.Especially considering the fact that Azumah Nelson remained the best at 126 and 130 leading into the 1990's.Despite being over thirty,An age which many at that weight have or are in a serious decline

Or perhaps Nelson just endured a much longer prime than most fighters are given

                  - - Perfect ex of the reason Boxing is such a lowbrow sport.

Sanchez was a feather and Pryor junior welt.

Moreover, at best Sanchez only had 1 more fight because he had been accepted into Medical School because of his obvious intelligence.
