Interestingly, one of the biggest losses at the start of a career also happened to be the younger brother who also lost his first fight as a pro. It must run in the blood.

Anyway, imagine starting your career with a knockout loss, because that is how Rafael Marquez started out. For some reason he fought the former world title with 39 wins in an eight round contest as his pro debut and was knocked out in the eighth. He also went on to be knocked out two more times quite early.

Of course he has come back to become one of the better champs of our day and a P4P ranked fighter. Amazing stuff.

Yeah, that was a pretty bad defeat for him and really made him remember his boxing and he has been looking better than ever.

From what I understand he is now scheduled to move up a weight and fight for the BW title next. Should be good.

Surprised Monzon hasn't been mentioned yet. Lost 3 and drew 3 of his first 20 bouts, then went on an insane winning streak, never losing a notable fight in his career.

Yeah your right... He drew for WBC in that stinker with De Leon... My mistake..

Benn was another one though... Got KO'd (gassed) by a light punch from Watson for the Commonwealth belt, but then went on to become a 2 weight champ..

Hardly embarrassing. Thompson was a very good fighter and Haye was too inexperienced at the time.
