Liston had a hard time catching Ali with punches until Ali went 'blind' in the 5th round. In that round Liston threw almost all of his punches to Ali's body but to little effect.

Foreman swung wide, powerful hooks to Ali's body with the majority of his punches but Ali protected his body well.

Shavers landed mostly on Ali's chin but whenever Ali covered up, Shavers went to the body with his right.

Norton and Frazier landed a ton of body punches on Ali.

      .
And Norton and Frazier have victories over Ali. Seems like body punching was a key tool to beat Ali even though he could take a tremendous amount of punishment on the body as well.

In a losing but game effort it should be noted that Chuvalo had a great deal of success going to Ali's body for 15 rounds; actually putting him in the hospital after the fight. Though they still mostly came out on the losing end pressure fighters that had the stamina to relentlessly pressure or attack the body for an entire fight were Ali's greatest foil throughout every stage of his career. This is why Chuvalo, Norton, and Frazier had more success against him than bigger, stronger, and sometimes more technically accomplished fighters.

As powerful as he was Foreman didn't have the stamina to keep the heat on Ali and Liston had been frustrated in the past by mobile fighters that could get away from his jab.
