Yea, I agree- probably a stoppage.
Your opinions seem contingent on what Poet has to say.

I for one stand by my prediction. If Joe Frazier could knock Ali on his ass and defeat him, why is it totally outside the realm of possibility that Marciano (who is, in my opinion, everything Frazier was and more) could as well? I'm not saying it wouldn't be a great and close fought fight..

    but

    Marciano was impervious to pain.
He never entered the ring in less than 150% condition.
    He never got discouraged.
He was easily ten times the puncher Ali was.

Even Ali stated after their 'superfight' that he couldn't believe how strong and competitive Marciano was at 45, and that he couldn't imagine what Marciano would've been like in his prime.

Marciano (49-0-0, 43 KOs) would've found a way to win.

I agree, I think Rocky would have beat Ali, Ali had alot of trouble against a fighter that was shorter and would presure you, Joe Frazier, Can you imagine if Joe Frazier. Could you imagine if Joe Could hit alittle harder but just with the left hook, but with both hands? Thats Rocky, As for Rocky getting stopped in 6, No way, Id put my house on it that this fight would go much like Ali Vs Frazier, Would have been close, but For Ali to beat a man like Joe,but hit harder and with both hands, is alot to ask from Ali.

      Joe Frazier On Rocky Marciano
"Joe Louis is the greatest heavyweight champion of all time. Rocky Marciano is second only to Louis. Where do I rate Ali? Somewhere below me. I beat him, and if I could beat him, no doubt Joe Louis and Rocky Marciano could have beaten him."
      -- Joe Frazier

frazier was a much better fighter than marciano, and you are forgetting that he only beat ali after a 3 year layoff and ali avenged that loss twice

i also dont know about marciano hitting harder than frazier....

that quote from joe means jack ****, he has always been bitter towards ali

I generally agree with him since he knows more than you. Rocky doesn't come close to beating Ali. Even if Frazier did give Ali problems, Ali did win his rematches. It would be hilarious watching the shorter, slower, reach-lacking Marciano trying to land on Ali. The bigger, harder hitting Liston couldn't catch him even with his 84 reach how the hell is Rocky going to do it.

Ali also said "that old man would never beat me"

For the record, Frazier would beat Rocky 7 times out of 10. IMO of course.

Toney, Hopkins and Roy all school Rocky. Rocky is a small HW, his defense sucks, fought old fighters and has terrible technique. Plus, is it too far fetched to say that he was protected by the mob? He fought in the 50's, was of Italian descent and was a blockbuster HW. If the mob fixed Primo Carnera fights why not The Rock's? Not that far fetched if you ask me.

Sure. Every fighter of Italian decent was run by the mafia. Showing a bit of ethnic bias there are you? Pray tell me who Sonny Liston's Italian father was.

Nice post. Unfortunately, it is fashionable these days to attempt to cheapen the accomplishments of athletes of yore (for the most part, losers cannot stand winners!)

If you ask me, the Rock was a human phenomenon, a small, crude heavyweight who, by virtue of his sledgehammer fists and unquenchable determination compiled the greatest record boxing will probably ever see . I think he is the greatest role model an impressionable kid could want, and the only champ I cannot envision him defeating is prime George Foreman.

I'm a nuthugger, I admit it. The man is my idol!

I guess you're my parrot because you agreed with me about something. I hate to rain on his parade but there was a time when we went at it hammer and tongs.

I'm not showing any kind of bias. The mob that was controlling boxing back then was predominantly of Italian descent. And I'm glad you brought up Liston, just goes to show you than any boxer can have ties in this corrupt sport.
