    Most brutal body punchers

I was watching the Hearns-Barkley fight a little while ago and had forgotten just how vicious a body puncher Tommy Hearns was with his left hand. Good God those were some unbeleivable punches he was hittingh Iran with.

Who are some other brutal body punchers that come to mind.

My all time favorite bodyshot is Roy Jones putting Virgil Hill down with a wicked right hand to the ribs.

I know he wasn't one of the elite, but Mickey Ward was a devastating body puncher. He just had a knack for landing that left hand in the perfect spot. I remember watching him fight some guy named Alfonso Sanchez. Sanchez was winning every minute of every round. Roy Jones and the HBO crew were saying how the fight should be stopped because Ward didn't seem like he wanted to be in there and was losing so bad. And then WHAM!!! Ward hits Sanchez with that Mexican liver shot and Alphonso went down like he was shot.

    Who else?

Mike McCallum was a vicious bodypuncher. Hence his nickname 'The bodysnatcher'.

JC Chavez was a great bodypuncher also.

Joe Frazier tops my list. Honorable mention include Mike McCallum, Julio Cesar Chavez, Rueben Olivaras, Tony Zale, Jack Dempsey, Archie Moore, and Joe Louis.

                  Muhammad Ali.

Out of the fighters that haven't been mentioned, I thought Gene Tunney had a great left hook to the body. He isn't known for it but the newspaper reports often mention him hurting his opponents with body punches.

Tunney stops Georges Carpentier with a body punch at 5:40

The only thing is Ali rarely threw to the body: He was usually a head-hunter all the way.
