    Interesting concept B.A.

I like your list. By "combination", do you consider perpetual motion guys like Harry Greb, Henry Armstrong and Aaron Pryor candidates for combination punchers?

More modern day, I always appreciated Mike McCallum's combos to the body.
Roberto Duran, Ray Leonard & Tommy Hearns deserve attention.

Back to some older guys, Benny Leonard, Kid Gavilan, Ike Williams & Sandy Saddler also come to mind.

Agreed! Nobody did it like Louis. You can throw Arguello in there too, and a host of others.

Ray Leonard should be at or near the top of that list. He was so versatile, innovative and quick with his combos. I'm pretty sure that I'd have Leonard above Louis as a matter of fact.

              Some of Louis' best work:

Ray Robinson taking it to LaMotta

              Triple left hook

It's the ability of these two to not only generate speed but also a huge amount of power with short punches in combinations that puts them above the rest in my opinion.

I guess LHW champion and Joe Louis' title challenger Billy Conn should be mentioned, he brought the fight to Louis with fast combinations which had the champion on the defensive for 13 rounds.

Floyd Patterson could throw great combinations as well:

              Ray Leonard

To my mind a combination puncher should be someone who can switch seamlessly from the body to the head and vice versa in a flurry of punches.Ali never really did that (the Cleveland Williams fight doesn't really demonstrate this). In the heavyweight division it is Joe Louis and Mike Tyson ,for me,who are the greatest combination punchers.

Yep, that's correct Champ. Legends you've mentioned were ferocious fighters who never stopped throwing them in lightning bunches and from every angle imaginable.

Some more that come to mind are:

                  - Tony Canzoneri
                  - Shane Mosley
                  - Barney Ross
                  - Meldrick Taylor - Fastest hands in Boxing history??? Either this guy or Floyd Patterson???

How could I forget Ray Leonard? This guy could do it all! Get on his toes and box, brawl to save the day, outstanding defence combined with excellent reflexes, crippling punching power, speed and a sturdy chin. Punches in bunches would come at you at 100 miles an hour.
