Did Jack Dempsey have the strongest punches ever?

Jack Dempsey was very rugged for his era. He hit pretty hard but it was more an accumulation of punches that wore down his opponents. At 6' -190 lbs. he wouldn't be very competitive with this era's heavyweights, who are considered small at under 220 lbs. He might be competitive in the Cruiserweights. Mike Tyson would probably knock him out in less than one round.

To Wildmanmoon, Dempsey battered Jess Willard into a bloody mess. Willard was an era's great and weighed nearly 250lbs. He also beat Firpo (around 220lbs) and many more. What makes you think he cannot compete with todays era of Heavyweights?

Also, your thoughts on Tyson disposing Dempsey in one round are laughable. I think you are underrating Dempsey a little.
Tyson never fought anybody with Dempsey's power, especially delivered in such an aggressive and ruthless manner much like Tyson himself. There is no doubt there would be a knockout in the fantasy match-up, but in favour of who i am not so sure about.

All the quotes were from one victim. hardly objective! Dempsey was a hard hitter, and I would say one of the hardest hitters. not the hardest though.
