I guess beating 100 straight tomato cans in Mexican bars qualifies a fighter for legend status Or maybe it's a bogus draw with Whitaker, or a bogus win over Randall, or possibly being saved from defeat by Don King's paid off referee against Taylor, or MAYBE it's crying like a little ***** after every setback once Don King couldn't protect him anymore. Chavez is. Sanchez didn't have the longevity, obviously a tragic situation and through no fault of his own.

This tomato can **** (regarding Chavez) is ****ing tired. The man fought more championship rounds than 99% of these other great fighters. I believe he lost to Whitaker and technically should have lost his first fight with Mel Taylor, but the man was still an incredible fighter.

For real though, spaced out over 25 years and three weight classes, that's absurd. Those are all quality wins. He only fought the best win/lose/draw. Dude stepped into the ring with everyone I mentioned plus Oscar, Tszyu and Pea. JC Superstar is a legend...nobody will ever approach a record of 107-6-2 again...not fighting the types of fighter he fought anyway.

Salvador Sanchez and I don't think it is even close. Sad thing was he died at 23.
If he fought Chavez at 130 in a mythical matchup he would box his ears off.

I've had time to look back at some of his fights and I think your right. He probably would have went down as the greatest to come out of Mexico. what a sad ending for a kid so young with so much potential, to die at such a young age. They should make a movie about him some day.

Chavez and Barrera are pretty close. I think Sanchez may have made the list if they had seatbelts in Mexico. There seems to be a problem with rich boxers and fast cars.

Growing up I was always a big chavez the only time I wasnt was when he fought Edwin rosario .. Hector camacho .. Angel hernandez .. etc...Chavez is definitely the best mexican fighter u guys ever had..but u cant forget what salvador sanchez did for ya..

Doesn't matter if Chavez fought a lot of avg fighters, that's inconciquential. What does matter is who he beat. See people like you are just haters who don't know **** about boxing and allow idiots on websites and tv influence your opinion.

Anyone who has ever seen Chavez fight understand the greatness of this man. He was a superb boxer/puncher who's acuracy was one of the best of all time. He had an iron chin and was always in great shape.

It's not how many you fight but who you beat, don't take points away from Chavez because he stayed busy. Many fighters today should be doing that and they would be sharper and have better careers.
