since Tyson actually won that fight against douglas, yeah, sure, the same way he beat douglas.
Not Only Will Ali Have Beaten Tyson, He Will Have

To get it out of the way...I have Ali winning.
What Ali? Before the layoff that took away a decent portion of his legs and blazing speed.
Now:
Some things in favor of Tyson:
Power
Speed
Chin
Agility
Strength
Arsenal of punches and all were accurate and hard...which includes an underrated Jab which many over-look...as well as his body attack to slow down the opponent.
He was also hard to hit (when trained).
Ali keeps his hands down. Can sometimes take breaks. Moves backwards to try to avoid punches. Someone that shuffles fast forward behind a hard fast jab and follows up with right may be able to get him. Not talking about the slow guys...talking about Tyson.
Trained/young Tyson wasn't a slow plodder and slow with his punches...so let's take about 90% of the HWs Ali fought (like many others) out of the equation, including Sonny Liston. This is the big thing with HWs; many are slow plodders compared. Tyson was basically a MW fighting at HW except he had a HW body.
Power: Ali could handle what Tyson dished out as long as he sees the punch(es) coming. That's key. One thing if you notice what Tyson could do that other HWs tended not to be able to do is sprint forward, throw in fast, sharp, powerful, accurate combinations from angles.
Tyson also had a solid jab to set up these punches. He could also **** to the body to get your hands to drop then pound the head. Ali had an incredible ability to absorb shots to the mid-section but Tyson also played many things old school and drilled fighters to the hips and around the kidney's sometimes...which speed helps to get away with.
1: 52
Fast Left-hook while Clay/Ali was punching.
I think that is the perfect time to get him....when he is punching. And since Tyson has a perfect left-hook and can throw fast sharp accurate punches in angles, he has a decent chance to land some on Ali.
What favors Ali?
Speed
Agility
Stamina (although Ali wasn't non-stop...but still...quite good)
Intelligence
Accumulation of punches/amount of punches he can throw back in sequence which includes the Ali jab.
Tyson slows up by the mid-point and is more willing to box than take you out.
He can be frustrated if you tie him up...although sometimes he can use it as an excuse to rest...but maybe if you do it when he wants to fight and not rest, frustration comes in. That's when Rooney came in handy and why I take some points away from Tyson for Generalship points since he was more soldier than General (like Ali).
At the end of the day, it's still Ali. The Man just seem to have an answer for everything...but anything is possible.
Maybe if D'Amato had a game-plan for Tyson it could favor him some more since it did seem Cus thought he just needed the right fighter....or maybe I'm off.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 07-09-2009, 10:32 PM.Comment

To be fair, Douglas was the benefactor of an extremely long count. Dude should've been KTFO.Comment

Ali would beat mike prime for prime but rope a doping would get him killed, Tyson would pick his shots and kill him if he tried that BS.
Prime for prime Ali UD's him or get's a late round KO. Way to good.Comment

If the fight went the distance, I would believe that Ali would win because he would score more points with that outboxing style.
If the fight was ended by KO or TKO, I would think Tyson wins. Tyson is more technical than people give him credit for. Good footwork, upper body movement is phenomenal and Ali is a head hunter. If Frazier roughed Ali up and he only relies on that left hand. Tyson would possibly do more damage, because he doesn't only rely on just the left hand.
If the fight goes all 12 rounds: Ali wins.
If the fight is ended by KO/TKO/Stoppage: Tyson wins.Comment

and no im not making any excuses for mike because im a fan of his, i give buster full credit for the win every time this fight gets brought up into discussion. But it is what it is. The ref was ****. Im not even going into details how he never penalized Buster for hitting on the break (i lost count how many times douglas hit mike on break), hitting after the bell, hitting tyson on the back etc. It was a ****ty ref, facts are facts man.Comment
