i think you guys need to read his autobiography, cause he never said "no mas". he said he was'nt going to fight a clown anymore. he wanted to fight, not been in a circus. "no mas" was dreamed up by the ref and the media"

Peolonxsoldier....You cant reason with Gavin. He thinks he know it all but is dead wrong in all his post. I have the autobiography of Duran too. I like Duran too, I think Duran is a all time great, but the fact is Duran was in his prime that night and had he won, there never would have been any talk of anything. Duran on page 204 addresses duran for the fight.....He said I am not fightint this clown anymore...NO mans, no cramps etc....

Since when is 29 not in prime. Gavin stil does not understand that Duran started fighting young and all of his fights were counted towards his professional career, thus he had no or very very nill amateur career. This does count, cause while he was fighting getting hit..So where other fighters.only their fights did not count towards professional records.

Leonard had 150 amateur fights, and at the time 27 professional fights...When you consider that Ray stepped in the ring with better fighters day in day out than Duran did...And one final point at least 50% of the fighterd duran faced even after he was a seasoned veteran and many after he became a champ, were againt fighters with losing records or very poor records....Box Rec has the list of their fights. Agsin some of these fighters complete record may not be included but these fighters were at best Record padders....So Gavin Duran at 29 was fine he was not past his prime, and the same Duran that fought in Montreal showed up 6 months later, only this time he met a Fighter that did not allow himself to get caught up in the mind games, and a stronger Leonard. The style of the fight is what was different...

Now I will say that Duran at lightweight was much better pound per pound than he was at Welterweight, so Gavin i accept your point on that. However, durna with no amateur career at 29, is comparable to a Maweather or Leonard or DLH with very long extensive amateur careers which can take a lot out of you (ask Bruce Curry or Mark Breland)....

Duran did stay on to long, but If you want to be consistent judge Duran like you do any other fighter and quit making excuses everytime he losses. Duran was an alltiem great at lightweight but when he moved up the ladder he repeatedly got his ass handed to him..REPEATEDLY. Leonard, Hagler, Hearns, Benitez. Was he better pound per pound..I say he was better than all except Ray leoanrd pound per pound, as again review his box rec, his resume is not as good as Leonards when comparing who he routinely stepped in the ring with.

Really? There isn't a single usable link in this thread.
