That's laughable, but possible: with all the MOB influence in boxing at that time.........................Fast forward to the Prime Tyson fighting Marciano (Should Marciano and Tyson have boxed in the same era ...early 90's) .......Marciano would have gotten his head Knocked off.

Yea I agree tons of respect for Marciano but he really wasn't a true HW like the guys of today. He weighed, what....190lbs??

Mike Tyson was a very skilled boxer with one of the hardest punches in the HISTORY of the game. Tyson would manhandle Rocky. It would be over in under 4 rounds.

Tough to pick as their respective body types were so similier and it dictated the way they fought. Both had legitimate one-punch power and could stop the average chin pretty dramatically. Tyson had a very good chin (as is witnessed by the sustained beatings he took in three of his losses and the big-time powershots he took in two of his wins), but Marciano edges him out with a great chin (as shown by his walking through the shots of some very good punchers without blinking). Marciano was a bleeder (Charles II the best example) but that's somewhat balanced by Tyson's eyes tending to swell up (Douglas, Holyfield I, Lewis). This is a nose-to-nose affair and I think the winner would be the one to catch the first break (or the loser the one to make the first mistake). Call it a pick 'em and call it one I wouldn't want to lay money on.

sticky - rocky marciano's age is a lot different to the days of mike tyson - different rules (which has changed pinch by pinch over the decades), different equipment, improved workout & training in tysons time

            So... ima split this.

            scenario 1:
Tyson in rocky's era ... marciano would win hands down !

            scenario 2:
Rocky in Tysons era ... Marciano again ! sorry but if he was an absolute KILLER of a fighter back then with poor equipment compared to nowadays then imagine his capability with the advantage of modern boxing and fitness technology !

            scenario 3:
in their primes ??... okay maybe tyson in this 1.

I think this fight would just come down to who hits harder. Tyson would be strongest in the first 4 rounds. In these first 4, Marciano would get hit more and much harder than he was ever hit in his life. I think that by the end of round 4, Marciano would be done. They both have great chins but Tyson's punch is way more powerful and I think that would make the biggest difference in their fight.

Are you saying Marciano didn't have power????? When he's considered a top ten all-time hardest hitting Heavyweight by the vast majority of boxing historians and experts????? Huh??? I'm no Marciano fan but even I know he could take an opponent's head off with one punch. Good God people please get a boxing education before you make posts please.

I love Rocky, but Tyson would beat him down badly.

Marciano definitely has more power. Not only punch for punch, but he keeps punching and keeps the power in there. Even for 15 full rounds. Mike Tyson makes up for it with his speed and accuracy, though, but I gotta say a flush right cross from Marciano is a killer.

I think power is very similar, but tyson would have to advantage of having a awsome arsenal of punches. Uppercuts would be perfect against marciano and tyson. Tyson could throw a mean uppercut especially when he went to the body first i could see that being the finishing punch. And Marciano always got hit and seeing as he bled alot if he fought in tysons time it would be a TKO victory for tyson.
The only chance would be a late KO for marciano as for points it would be extremley close, a prime tyson could go the distance. But really i see a TKO victory for tyson.
