Sorry guys I weren't here to contribute, been working all weekend and have literally not long got home.
Some really interesting matchups there.
Thanks for the comments on what you think of this thread, it was my very first post and thread and I don't think I'll have any better than this.
Thanks for all the responses from such great posters on boxingscene and long may this continue as like you I could discuss the heavyweights and it's history forever.
Look forward to the results of the round robin.

Harder than Liston, Frazier or Foreman? Cose they couldnt finish within 3 neither could Shavers!
I'm not saying he would win, but it is still a liability, holyfield did some amazing things during his day.

im not taking anything away from holyfield..but he would never have won by KO in the 3rd against Ali. And he didnt hit harder than Frazier

Muhammed Ali vs Oliver McCall = Ali By one sided UD
Joe Louis TKO8 George Chuvalo = Agreed
Jack Johnson UD15 Jimmy Ellis = Johnson by Stoppage
Jack Dempsey vs Ken Norton = Dempsey by KO in 1
Sonny Liston TKO8 Jack Sharkey = Agreed
Rocky Marciano KO8 Vitali Klitschko = Disagree Marciano is Cruiserweight by todays standards and he is 5 foot 10, no way would he beat 6 foot 7 Vitali who outweighs him by 70+ pounds this would be a mismatch Vitali by stoppage inside of 5.
Larry Holmes UD15 John L. Sullivan = Holmes by stoppage late.
Evander Holyfield KO7 Earnie Shavers = Agreed
George Foreman TKO12 Floyd Patterson = Disagree Patterson had weak chin at Heavyweight plus he was Cruiserweight by todays standards Patterson would get destroyed in 1 round.
Joe Frazier TKO3 Billy Miske = Agreed
Mike Tyson TKO8 McVey = Tyson by KO in 5
Harry Wills UD15 James Corbett = Agreed
Lennox Lewis KO5 Max Schmeling = Agreed
Peter Jackson TKO12 James Jeffries = Agreed
Joe Jeanette UD15 George Godfrey (Upset) =Agreed
Rid**** Bowe KO15 Joe Walcott = Disagree Bowe by KO inside of 5.
Muhammed Ali TKO10 Joe Louis = Ali by UD.
Jack Dempsey KO7 Jack Johnson (Upset) = I think Johnson by UD.
Rocky Marciano TKO6 Sonny Liston (Upset) = Umm tough call i think Liston stops Marciano by TKO in 6
Evander Holyfield KO15 Larry Holmes (Upset) = Totally disagree Holmes won 5 rounds against prime Holyfield when he was 40+ prime Holmes would beat Holyfield by commanding UD.
George Foreman TKO2 Joe Frazier = Agreed
Mike Tyson UD15 Harry Wills = Tyson by KO in 7.
Lennox Lewis UD15 Peter Jackson = Lewis by KO inside of 5
Joe Jeanette UD15 Rid**** Bowe = Bowe by TKO in 8
Quarterfinals
Muhammed Ali UD15 Jack Dempsey = Agreed
Rocky Marciano KO11 Evander Holyfield = Disagree Holyfield by UD
Mike Tyson KO6 George Foreman (Upset) = Totally disagree Foreman is bad style match up for Tyson i think he stops Tyson in 6.
Joe Jeanette TKO11 Lennox Lewis = Lewis by TKO inside of 6.
Semifinals
Muhammed Ali UD15 Rocky Marciano = Agreed
Mike Tyson KO15 Joe Jeanette = Disagree Tyson by KO inside of 6
Final
Muhammed Ali UD15 Mike Tyson = Ali by TKO in 11.
Disagree with quite a few of these match ups the old fighters in early 1900s would not beat most of the modern HW's of today based on the size difference alone.

Size is not a factor here. It's a level playing field where all eras are on the same level. Moreover I consider the Cruiserweight division to be illegitimate: I'm an "old school eight" guy and I pretty much ignore the Super and Junior divisions. Too many fans today are size obsessed. My view is that Heavyweights have gotten larger just as people in general have gotten larger and any objective matchup has to take that into account and norm the weights. People do this when comparing the seven footer loaded NBA team of today with the NBA teams of the 60s with no one over 5'9". Why should it be any different with boxing?
