Most of the books and stuff I've read didn't really go into that part of his life with specific details. They will say that he grew up in Brooklyn very poor had to steal and do all sorts of **** and eventually went upstate to a detention center.

They never get to far into it other then the time some kid killed his pet pigon and some of the mugging he did.

I think this is the one that starts out talking about his family and how he lived as a kid.
