    My pick for boxing movie:

"Requiem for a Heavyweight" with Humphrey Bogart, Anthony Quinn and, yes, Cassius Clay (then) in a cameo.

What panamaniac said, can't believe no one else mentioned it.

Without a dout the best boxing movie ever "Requiem for a Heavyweight" Don't vote if you haven't seen it. then if you think The rocky flicks or other are better then cool

BTW Bogart wasn't in it, Jackie Gleason (shows he can act) Anthony Quinn and Mickey Rooney and others

Great Flick to watch even if you don't agree it's the best boxing movie. Actually deals with the life or an average boxer, and how it can turn out sadely.

these are the only boxing movies i rate highly other than raging bull.
i was never a big fan of rocky and i think million dollar ****ty is one of the worst movies i have ever seen.

kids return is a great movie not just because its about boxing its a great movie about growing up. A TRULY MUST SEE MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!

the fight choreography in kids return and crying fist is the best iv ever seen
I havent' seen Kids Return... is that the Japanese one with Takashi Kitano?

I have however seen Crying Fist, because 1) Choi Min Suk was in it (one of my favourite actors), and 2) it was a boxing movie. I rank this one as my favourite boxing movie... even above the Rocky movies, because of the montages, the story, and drama. Highly recommend Crying Fist.

yes it is the one with beat takeshi.

i agree with u 100% crying fist is FAR better than rocky.
the final bout at the the end was AMAZINGLY choreographed.
Choi Min Suk seems like one tough bastard for an old guy, someone
told me he was a decent amateur as a kid, that would explain his good technique and defensive moves. i am truly shocked only 1 other person on this forum has seen this movie. it is far far far far better than the usual holywood boxing movies everyone has named on here.

if u liked crying fist u should DEFINITELY watch kids return.
i think kids return is the best boxing movie of all time.
its not just about boxing, its a great movie about life in general.
its a hard movie to find but its definitley worth searching for

^ no I never knew Choi boxed... I know Beat Takashi boxed...

I saw Oldboy (one of my favourite movies of all time now) and saw how Choi's character used nothing but shadowboxing and the TV boxing shows to learn to box when he was locked up... He's pretty damn tough too... Korea and Japan has a lot of love for combat sports.

All the Rocky movies are classics to me, and Rocky Balboa was a great cap to the series and a tie in to modern boxing, which i loved!

I'm surprised no one's mentioned "Somebody Up There Likes Me" with Paul Newman. Newman was really young when he made that movie, and did a really jam-up job of portraying boxing great Rocky Graziano. Believe me, Stallone took a LOT of inspiration from this movie when he was putting the "Rocky" script together.

                      I'd say Raging Bull.
